WILL NOT EAT. URGENT

i have a baby male that will not eat he has barley eaten anything since i got him 2 weeks ago. will not eat crickets dubia some worms the only thing i know for sure he has eaten was a few licks of baby carrots off my finger. i am very worried about him as he has gone from 15g's to now 12 he is still shedding but how can i get him to eat

I'm not the best person to answer your question, but could you possibly post more info???

What are your temps?? (hot & cool)

How are you measuring them?? (kind of thermo you are using)

What type of lights are you using?? (very important!!) also specify if it's a compact or strip bulb

imo.. you should have a fecal done, but i'm guessing that's going to be difficult if your little guy isn't really eating. Lack of appetite can be from parasites(especially if you got your little guy from a pet store as opposed to a breeder) Or it could be from improper temps, and lighting.

Post more info, so ppl have a better idea on how to assess your situation. For now, I would suggest daily bathing in a pedialite/water bath. Also it's pretty important to get calcium in your dragon, so see if you can get a liquid calcium supplement at your local pet store. Also you can go to a health foods store and get Collodial(sp?) Silver Water.. it's all natural, and it's a good antiseptic and you can't over dose your dragon with it.

sorry i didnt post more i had posted about this an another thread but no one replied so i figured i needed a more urgent title. he was in a 10g that was placed inside a 40g but after many attempts to escape and tring to push through the glass i moved him to the 40g now. it should still be somewhat familiar since the 10 was in the 40g. the basking light is a clear household bulb. o have a reptisun 10.0 uvb that he can get within 6in of. his temps have been solid 107 in the baskin spot. he was on repti-carpet.

I would re check your temps and evening temps. Make sure there is no lighting disturbing his or her sleep and that your lizard is getting proper amount of hours without uv and with uv. I would try to get a fecal float(that is the Saskatchewan term) into a vet. It really doesn't cost that much. it is safe to assume that most beardies have worms at some point in their life. The typical treatment is five days of Panacur and liquid calcium if they are not eating. During this time it is important to keep temps great and the tank very clean.

well i just let him soak in water and pedialite and gave him some pedialite from a syringe which he did ok with then a tiny bit of baby chicken and apples water down with the pedialite and he took just a little bit. hopefully i can get him to keep taking it

he has pooped a little bit since giving him this its realy watery now and not like it used to be. would this have so much water it gives him dieriha? he looks a little better already and has gained a few grams. he took the mixture 3 times now but still wont touch the crickets. hopefully i can get him back up to normal.

P.S. how much could i dose probiotics?

NOW IM PISSED i just looked at my uvb to make sure it was the reptisun but no some ***** must have switched the bulbs and returned it cuz its a reptiglo which apparently causes problems

If youve only had him 2 weeks it may still be relocation stress. i would urge you to get e fecal done, as i would any new owner, just to see where you stand. Where did you get him from??

Is he trying to get them or totally uninteresed??

he may be really dehydrated if you had him in a 10g. It's almost impossible to get proper temps in a 10g, I had my guy in one temporarily, when he was small, and my basking temps would reach 120+f late in the day. I had to reposition the heat light periodically throughout the day so his basking spot didn't get too hot. If he is dehydrated, then that may explain his lethargic behavior. Keep giving him baths, maybe even 2x a day.. see if his appetite comes back. Try to get a fecal done asap, they're only about $15-$20 or so. If you can't find a proper vet in your area to do one, then contact Nicole (HowlinGaleDragon) on here, and she can do one for you for a few dollars + shipping of course. If it is a parasite problem, then there are several people on here that can help you get the proper meds, and dosing, as well as advise on how to treat/prevent issues in the future.

In my experience its actually pretty normal for beardies to eat less during shedding anyway, which you mentioned in your first post.

On top of that you have the stress factor as the little guy is in a new home, at this stage i wouldnt worry too much about it and would just watch him and see if it gets better.

he has started eating wohoo im so excied his color is realy showing and he knock on wood is in the clear he had a normal looking poop and i hope he was just stressed.
