okay so let tell you guys that I've come t the conclusion that phoenix is playing me for the sap he knows i am. he has to learn to eat his veggies, so today i made the mother of all salads sprinkled with worms... it even looked good to me. i tried hand feeding him and every time i gave him a worm he would eat it but offer something else and he would turn his nose up. so after trying to do this for 30 mins i put him back in his house and put his food in with him and so far he hasn't even cared that its there.... i plan to leave the veggies in with him all day, but if he doesnt eat them and i cut his live food back will he starve? i know probably stupid to ask but i was just wondering

No, beardies will not completely starve themselves. They can be stubborn, but will give in and eat. We leave a salad in his cage all day and only offer bugs at suppertime. He was also quite stubborn, lol, still is during brumation too

Tee hee...I have a non-salad eater also...actually, two of them at the moment. Chopping up all those veggies for completely unappreciative subjects is really getting to be a PITA but I keep doing it. I put the salads in their vivs most everyday (occasionally I skip a day cause really, who would notice-LOL) about an hour after the lights go on and then I take the salads out at the end of the day. My kinda grown-up sized beardie gets offered her live stuff generally in the early evening..we are really pushing the roaches these days because the vet said she was too fat on the supers but she is not a huge fan of those and trying to offer only a few supers if any after everything else...at the moment, I think she is on the edge of bruminating so not eating much at all...but we are just kind of playing it by ear with her. The other one is a baby so I put the salad in first thing in the morning and then regardless of what she does with it, we are offering live food at least twice a day and sometimes three....mostly roaches....she generally will eat the live food once or twice a day. She has eaten her salad a few times, I think...not all of it..but a bit here and there.

I have some cactus on the way...I am hoping that will be the vegetable that they will actually enjoy cause so far, nothing has generated any interest at all.

ha-ha stubborn isn't the word for Phoenix, lol. what I've decided to do is when he gets up, i turn the lights on, let them warm, then its bath time for him (his favorite part of the day) then i have decided to take him out of his Viv and offer his salad to him where there are no distractions, just me and him, he tries to play me more and more because last night he got in the plate ate the worms but would actually let the veggies fall out of his mouth lol and he was still hungry so he climbed up my leg and gave me that sweet dragon face he gives when he wants out, but I'm not going to cave. my vet told me his body is getting to the point it needs what is in the salad mixture, that i have to be strong and find a way to make that salad appealing. this being the first time i used banana since he loves it, and more fruits to see if that would spark some interest... :| i have decided that i will drop 10 worms in the salad, if he digs them all out that's just too bad. lets just hope this works, he's a big baby all the time so i feel bad for doing him this way but it has to be done. the doc said he is just not eating the salad because the better stuff he knows is coming later at night. he did tell me to keep offering the live food just to cut the amount i have been giving him down so that he will be hungry and take to the salad faster.... he says the key is consistency.... well i'm going to look up / make some lists of different salads i can make, next week my phoenxi worms will be here so that will probably helps too...

also silkworms, where can i find some of these? my doc recommended them, he said it was great he loved the phoenix worms but to try silkworms too. anyone have a good, reliable place to order from??

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
