Our dragon Romeo refuses to eat live feeders unless you place them on his blankie. If you place them on his log... he won't eat them. If you place them in a bowl... he won't eat them. If you place them on the floor... he won't eat them. Put them on his blankie and he chows like it's his last meal. Took us slow-thinking slaves a while to figure that one out! Crazy boy

That is just too funny!

My Rex is somewhat like that also.
She can have worms or veggies ln a dish and just sit there staring at them. You take any of it out and lay it next to the dish and she will eat it.
I think they like to keep us wondering! :D

That is cute. They sure do get us trained very easily.
Just be careful, I had to fight Foster from eating his blankie the other day. I was feeding him a horn worm and he dropped it on his towel, and he got the towel caught up with the worm. He was eating towel fringe. I was playing tug of war with him from eating the entire towel. Guess he thought it was all worm. :D

Romeo is just spoilt rotten thats all :p
Given the choice Im sure my partner would like his meals brought to him in bed.

Miso, my baby, would only eat if you put her salad on this one rock. Anywhere else and she would ignore it and go hungry.
After a few weeks we've finally gotten her to eat from her bowl.... but only if we place it NEXT to her eating rock.
Baby steps eh?

Haha! He is spoiled! He's had me a bit concerned for quite some time now. We purchased him back in December and although he's a bit young, he went thru a semi-brumation and was being lazy, not eating. Then after that, his appetetite never was what it should have been. Correct set-up, clean fecals, no weight loss... I'd offer food, he'd refuse. He's been offered supers, roaches, hornworms, silkworms & butters. I tried Acidophiliz hoping to stimulate his appetite but that didn't work. I'd let him go a few days, then finally break down and feed him chicken/squash by hand. He loved that. Once in a great while, he'd eat one or two but that's it. Now, since dropping them on his blankie (which normally is pulled out each morning) he's chowing anywhere from 7-12 supers in a sitting. Such a little bratt! All this time... :banghead: I keep telling him that he'd NEVER survive out in the wild because there are no 'blankies' to eat off of.

We only have one other dragon that's 'wierd' about eating. That would be our 8 year old Max. We say he has developed 'dragonzheimers'. He eats his salad and his token 2-3 feeders daily. If he goes for a feeder, and misses or drops it, he will still think he's caught it and chew, chew, chew away as if he really has one in his mouth. Offer him another, and he turns his head as if to say 'No thank you... I already ate and it didn't really taste that good. I couldn't possibly eat another!'. We try to make sure he doesn't miss or drop them or he'll think he's already eaten and refuse more. He just started doing this the past few months.

How do they ever make it in the wild where food hasn't been strategically placed on blankies, rocks or next to feeding dishes? LOL!

Romeo probably wanted to be sure that the worms were all nice and comfy in their last few seconds of life, before they became chow. What a guy!

Probably  I keep his viv real clean so it couldn't be that he thinks it feels like a dirty restaurant.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
