Why is he cranky?

ok so im pretty sure it has something to do with his sheading, but Draco is so cranky latley and im worried. Every time i go to put food in his cage or try and pick him up he puffs up at me and opens his mouth as if to bit me! but he hasnt, instead he just runs to the back of his cage and starts climbing up..like he is running away from me

I just built him a new home and he adapted to it very nicely but now with him sheading a lot more (his head, back and tail) he just dosent want to be messed with. is this normal?

Also i just got him a new UVB light and everything is normal as far a habitat.

Yea its perfectely normal for that to happen when shedding. It is extremely uncomfortable for them. He should calm down after he is done. Just bathe him everyday to help with his shed and give him some treats for having to deal with it.

oh ok that a relief. also..is it normal for him not to eat as much? he usually loves crickets and salad but he barely touches it for the past few days. could it be from sheading or the relocation stress?

Yup that is normal too. He should be fine again when he is done

Both my beardies lose their appetite for a day or two during shedding. They get cranky as well.

oh thankyou. i just get so worried over little things since im a new dragon owner. i dont want to mess up. so its like SMS (sheading mood swings) lol. but he seems to be getting better now tho

HAHA SMS that is great! Im pretty new to beardies as well only had mine since end of May but I have been following this site for about a year and didn't sign up till April when I started getting everything going.
