I just bought a berdie from someone ( March 4) that was not taking very good care of it. It did not have the right lighting and no basking light for at least 4 months. The light that was in it was a CRITTEX CULTURE 75 WATT BULB WAS THE ONLY ONE. When I got her home I gave her the right lighting and temps and soon after she pooped but it was on a towel and looked like a puddle. After she warmed up I put her in my feeder tub and she ate 62 small roaches and an hour and a half later she ate 28 more for a total of 90 small roaches. She seemed to be fine and some what active. Today (march 5 ) she seemed to be fine and when I walked back into the room I redid a different cage and put her in it and she seemed to be twiching alot so I gave her a bath and she pooped but it seemed to mix with the water and had a few chunks. I put her in a 50 gallon tote in the laundry room with the lights and a space heater and a soft towel to lay on. (march 6 afternoon). Later that evening she pooped and seemed fine and even ate a few crickets on her own.
Today (march 7) she is up and around and her poop is starting to not be so runny (still no white stuff) and her appetite has returned.

What I want to know from people with a little more experienced than me is do you think she may have had just a bad belly ache or what. I thought it may be a calcium deficiency but now I am not sure.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

PS I did mix some calcium up with water and gave that to her in a syringe. Do you think that could have helped her that much?

Could be low blood calcium. I'd start her on some liquid calcium and see if it helps.

its not a mix its liquid calcium
if you scroll halfway down the page you can order some here (a piece of purchases made here go to their rescue) http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Meds.html
has dosing instructions on the bottle.

im thinking the same thing gail is. It is possible it is the early signs of MBD (which is caused by inaccurate lighting and lack of calcium).

as to the bowel movements. give it a few days to a week of appropriate food and lighting as well as some time to get past the added stress of a new home and re-visit the feces issue. If in a week or so she still has the severely loose stool you will want to get a sample to the vet to be tested for parasites.

good to go

if its not MBD then its a neurological issue that you cant do anything about. but considering the way you described her previous home im pretty sure its early signs of calcium defficiency.

I agree with everyone else it does sound like MBD.Twitching is a tell tale sign of this a simple stomach ache would not do this and judging by his previous care there is no way he doesnt have calcium deficieny.Liquid calcium as stated is the way to go.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
