Which substrate would you use and why?

Hi everyone! I am planning on buying a bearded dragon but before I buy him or her I wanted to have some things clarified. I know this substrate topic varies on different opinions and thoughts. I do not want any loose substrate because of the risk of impaction and this things soI was thinking on reptile carpet and tile. What are the cons and pros of this options? Do you use them? If you have other recommendations of substrate then I will also like to hear about them.

I also wanted to have a digging box and thought of using Alfalfa pallets or rabbit pallets (are they the same thing?) or millet seed? Which one would recommend me to use and which one do you use? Other options? At what age of the beardie do you think it is convenient to add the digging box? Thank you for your answers! :D

For my baby dragons I'm using pillow cases. It's very easy because all I gotta do to wash them is throw them in a washer with a little bleach and then the dryer. Just avoid using detergent because the smell irritates them.

I use rough textured floor tile in Peaches' viv, it is easily kept clean and free of bacteria and other dangerous organisms.

I have 1/2 of viv with slate tile, 1/4 with red brick, acting as a barrier, then last 1/4 playsand and river rocks. tile is easy to dissenfect, brick gives good climbing and heat retention, and sand lets him relax and dig when he wants. with a smaller section of sand it's easier to clean out and replace, just throw in oven and bake then let cool... poof... back in you go.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
