which reptisun gives enought uvb for a 40 gal tank?

i curently have a beardi in a 40 gallon breeder with a 10.0 repti-glo, but recently i heard that its bad and can cause blindness which kind of freaked me out. so i decided i want to get repti sun but im not sure which one is good for a 40 gal. i know i need a 10.0 but should i get the 18" 15 watt, 24" 18watt, 36" 30 watt, or 48" 36 watt? and should i leave the rpeti glo on or should i turn it off and just pet the repti sun in when i get it?

Hello,
Your UVB should cover half to two thirds of your tank. Since you have a 40 gallon, an 18" would be ok, but the 24" would be best. The 48" reptisun wouldn't fit in your 40 gallon, and you want to be able to mount it inside. I don't think that the 36" would fit inside of the tank, since the tank is 36" long and you'll still need a fixture, I don't think it'll fit inside.
You should also shut the Reptiglo off once you get your repstisun in.

since a 40 gallon breeder tank is around 36" long a 24" uvb light will be fine.

thanks! hahahah i cant believe i wasnt thinking about the dimentions of the tank when trying to figure this out. and alright cool ill go with the 24", how do i put it on the inside?

3M command hooks or command strips seem to work well. Some people use velcro, coat hangers, etc.
