Where to put sandbox?

So I got a tray and millet to make a digging area for Mort. But finding conflicting info on where might be best. Warm or cool side? Or middle? Some places are saying they like to dig and bask in it, others say they like to hide and cool off in it.

Try different things, it's probably more up to Mort what he would like. If he diggs art a certain area I'd start there. Tater just liked to have a dig and sleep in his, so it was on the cool side. Pepper likes to dig under his basking rocks to hide where it's warm, he doesn't dig on his cool side. He ignored the dig box I tried all together.
