Where to get the least expensive repitiworms?

I ordered 1000 crickets online and have tried to do everything right, but they seem to be dying very quickly, not to mention the stink and the difficulty of dealing with them, without them jumping away and getting loose in the house. I have decided that repti / calci / phoenix worms will be the way to go, as long as he will eat them. I found a website that had "nutriworms" same thing basically, supposed to be more nutritionally balanced or whatever, for $34.95 for 1000 or $19.95 for 500. Free shipping. Wondering if there is any better buy out there before I order. I thought I might try 500 the first time and see how long they last us, and how long they stay alive.

Crickets do die very quickly an adult crickets life span is about 2 weeks I believe. I am going to switch to dubia as soon as I can afford to get a colony going :) That way it will be basically cost free feeding. Right now I am try to breed superworms not sure how that is going yet LOL I havent had any worms produced but I just transfered the beetles to a new bin after 2 weeks in that one, so I will wait a few weeks and see if any worms appear lol. I have tried the repti worms I got them from petco and everyone I got from there was dead or black so not worth the money to me :).

If you decide to go with nutriworms lets us know how it turns out.
I had ordered from reptiworms and was totally happy with it.Later I decided to go with someone cheaper and I tried Grubco. The weather was in the 90's and it took longer than normal to get to me. It took three days. Anyway, they were all dead so they did the right thing and sent me some more I paid shipping. The weather was only in the 60s and it only took 2 days to get to me but once again most of them were dead. I had ordered 1000 and I only ended up with about 70 or so. Very disappointing. So I guess it depends on who you order from.

I like the dubias and on this group they are some real good prices. Kyle is one of them, he normally is running some kind of deal. In the long run they are cheaper then any feeder.

If you order your crickets online, do not order the adults. Order 3/4 inch. You get an extra week or so out of them and they dont chirp.
I found reptiworm.com themselves to be the cheapest for black soldier fly grubs, but when I buy I buy in bulk.

Our beardie is 9 1/2 inches. Do the worms grow while you have them much? I am thinking the medium worms would be good unless they grow quickly, then perhaps the small.

I did order the small crickets, but they are just dropping like flies, so to speak

Also, if I get the repti/nutra worms, should I keep them at room temp, or get a thermometer and turn our mini fridge temp higher, to try to get it to 50-some degrees?

Are the dubias roaches? You can tell I am new to this. The thought of those kind of creeps me out. For some reason I am not nearly as grossed out by the worms or crickets.

I do not think the worms grow as you have them. My worms never lasted long enough to find out. You need to keep them at 50 to 60 degrees. I had a cooler I put them in with ice packs I changed out everyday. I used a digidtal theo to check the temps.

I am not a fan of touching the adult dubias roaches but the young ones are so easy to touch. They are the same as crickets to me. I use a tweezer I got from someone on thei group and you can grab them with that. It comes in handy to grab them out of the cone part ion the egg cartons.

The roaches are also much better for them to eat then the crickets.UUMM!

The worms will not grow, require almost no maintenance, and no food as long as you keep them chilled between 50 and 60 degrees. At that temp they go into a dormant state and basically sleep until you pull them out for feeding. I order 5,000 at a time from reptiworms.com, I usually get my order within 3 days of ordering and haven't had 1 dead worm yet. If you order from reptiworms.com use the code "bearded20" at checkout and you'll get 20% off. I get 5,000 for about $65 US including shipping.

I always buy from www.reptiworms.com and put facebook20 or bearded20 in for the coupon code and you get 20% off. I keep mine in my basement where it's about 55 degrees, and they last a month or more, if I can get them to last that long because my beardies love them..

If you keep them at room temperature, they will only live about 3 weeks.

Also, I get the large reptis for my 8 week old babies.. They have no hard shell, and easily digested, so if I were you I would go with the large... The small are TINY, and honestly I didn't see much of a difference between the medium and large..

I feed six appetites. The first time I bought supers for them I was like, hmmm I'll get 100 worms. That sounds like a lot.... yea, no. I really don't expect that they are going to expire before they get eaten. I also wanted to maximize the discount.

On a side note I have been walking around today muttering to myself, "I just bought 6 pounds of maggots...."

My wife didn't seem to share my logic in buying maggots, either.

I only made the decision knowing that I could store them in a dormant state. If I have to abort some excess I have other folks who would like them.

oh yea I should mention that if my beardies don't like them I'm going to be pissed.

edit: REALLY not too worried about that scenario, though. They are great eaters.

I keep mine in the basement where it's about 50 - 55 degrees, and they last over a month... Not sure how long they would live, because my beardies finish them before any die!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
