Where to get basking bulbs???

Im looking for a new basking bulb for my bearded dragon.
ive been using a red one lately, but its bothering him.
so off to lowes i went.
my closest pet store sells each basking bulb for 10-20 bucks.
far to expensive, whenever most of them are red.

which bulbs do you use.
i dont want to use a typical lightbulb, as they dont ever seem to give off enough heat.
just to much light.

do they sell ceramic heat bulbs here?the ones that dont give off light?
i accidently bought a flood light.
and its way to bright.
but it gives plenty of heat.
ill be returning it tommorow.
but using it for the mean time.

Depends on the size of enclosure. Based on that is where you will make a call for the wattage to get. In my 20 gallon long (juvenile beardie) I have a 60 watt house hold bulb, it is a daylight bulb, gives off enough heat to put his temperatures at 110 degrees max. Generally I see it at 107 though. The light is bright enough to lighten up his entire enclosure but, not bright enough to blind the little guy. Beardies like a well lit enclosure too though. 4 pack about 9 dollars. :wink:

Red spectrum lights are not a good color range for bearded dragons as they can see the red color. Red night lights are just as bad as they will keep your dragon awake. This holds true with iguanas too. :wink:
