where to buy slate

wanting to switch to slate, but went to Lowes and they just have little squares of it at a pretty steep price anyways.
any other home dept stores that have it in bigger sheets? havent checked Home Depot yet...I would love to have 2 18x18" slabs for a 30 gal long enclosure.

You could also try local flooring stores. Maybe order online for it?

I just picked up a bunch of slate at home depot last night. I didn't see any 18x18 tiles there either.

12x12 tiles were 1.25 ea

6x6, 3x6, 4x4 tiles were all sold in sq ft packs and were around 4-5 dollars a pack.


I bought 30 bucks worth and had plenty of leftovers in my 3ftx2ftx1ft cage.

Any local hardware stores or garden centers you could call and ask? Can't hurt if it's just a phone call!

Our Lowe's had 18x18 tile (I was just there at the weekend looking for tile for my own new viv!) - how quickly do you need it? They might be able to ship from another store to your local store for free. Some stores are willing to do that.

Lowes and home depot didn't have much when I looked either. Found a store called floor and decor 12x12 were only .66 each mine viv is 30 in long i put 1 at each end just have the shelf liner in the center he seems to like having both lol
