Zig started partial brumation in October. Then late Jan went to sleep for a week at a time. Two weeks at a time through Feb. He woke up the other day and I thought it was over, but no. He didnt get up the next morning. Guess he was just thirsty.

When does this end????????

Hi, well I am unable to help you in regard to how long this last, but wanted to share my story, cause we are kind of in the same boat.

My Emmalee started semi brumation in October as well, she was 9 months old. She was a lot slower, her metabolism was slower, and she reduced her eating. This went through to November where she only ate one super a week. By December she ate a super maybe every two weeks, on the 19th she ate her last super. She went down for full brumation December 23rd, and woke January 10th.

Since then she has still remained in a semi brumation state. She went from 358 grams to 337 grams. She is still not interested in eating, and since she woke I can count the times on my hand that she ate a bite of veg. Just a bite, nothing more. She is not interested in any feeders, whether it be crickets, super or waxies. I have bought them all to just die.

I recently started to assist feed a slurry to help get her weight up, but even at that I am lucky if she eats 3 mls per day!!! Brumation is not a good, or fun time for the owner, this I have learned. I have also learned that most brumations last 2-3 months, but Emmalee is having a harder time getting back to normal.

So I guess there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to brumation, and I have been told that some of them take a long time to get back, so maybe we just have those kind of dragons.

Only advice I can give, is to make sure the fecal checks out ok, make sure this isn't parasitic. I know Emmalee was good before all this. And from what I have learned during Emmalee's process is that your dragon is normal, they can go in and out of brumation several times.

I am hopeful that with daylight savings it may trigger a natural Spring response. I will wish the same for your Zig, good luck!

Thanks for the reply. It's nice to know that I am not alone... This really sucks. I tried babyfood when he got up last time and he'd have a tiny bit then be done. Did you wake yours up for baths? All of my supers have died now but my roach colony that I got right when he started brumation is thriving. Soon I'll have too many, if I don't already.

No, I did not wake her to bath her, but I probably should have. She was quite dehydrated. Not only that, but she lost a whole lot more weight than expected, a total of 21 grams! :banghead: Well, at least there is one thing to learn during this whole process...we will know what to do next year.

As I type this Emmalee is in her classic semi brumation state, sleeping on the cool end ledge

Here is the link to what I have posted regarding Emmalee's brumation, if you are interested. Maybe there is some advice on there that you can get as well.

When our beardie went down i still bathed them at least 3 times a week a 20 min soak. it seamed to wake em up a bit and they would eat a few bites id make them bask and then they would crawl away to the cool side and sleep again. He was only asleep for a month and a half. Half asleep a week after that and then fully awake.

Maybe try bathing every few days. Stick him on his basking area. Make sure your temps are good. How old is his UVB?

UVB is 3 months old....bathing is up to 2 times per week 20 minutes.

I have placed her on her basking spot, but she jumps off, unless she is really interested in basking!

Yeah my UVB is new as of December and its hardly been on lately. He had a fecal done a few weeks ago when he got up for a couple days. He's healthy at least.

Awesome, I am sure he will stumble out of this now, with the time change and more light.

My Emmalee is still being as stubborn as ever, but yesterday was a pretty good day. She still will not eat veggies or feeders on her own, but got super excited when she saw the slurry syringe and ate all 3 mls at once! She was basking and quite active, and even stayed up until 7:30pm.

Don't worry too much if it takes a while for him to eat, it is very common. I am hoping this brumation is finally over for you...at least for this year...LOL!

Have a great Sunday!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
