When to put Beardie to sleep?

I've had OzMonkey for three years.i purchased him from the local pet store when he was a few weeks old. He's in a 40 gallon tank he has a day time light and a heat lamp and a UVA/uvb in one odd shaped light. It started in June, his right arm is swelling up at the knuckles and gone up his arm. He's stopped eating and drinking, so no poop. I bathe him, I let him in his tree outside. We live in So. California, so he's got sunshine. His diet was dubia roaches and super worms, alternating and 3x a week. He has greens and fruits.

His hot side of tank is at 100 degrees and his cool side is about 80. At night, the timer shuts all lights off and he sleeps, till the timer turns the lights back on 12 hours later.

He is slowly commiting suicide. He's black beard and pale skin and as of a week ago he was dragging his arm around. The last 2 days, be rolls on his back and just gives up. He doesn't try to waggle upright. All the vets are closed due to the lockdown, I found a mobile vet, as my Mainecoon cat has come down with a sneeze and breathing issues. The vet is here and says she did an x-ray buy cant take blood. She wants me to take OzMonkey to a 24/7 ER.

He's back in his vivarium and I put him on his branch, under the basking. He immediately rolled off and into his back, eyes closed. He's lying on my chest. The vet tells me, OzMonkey is suffering way too much and needs to be put down to end his suffering as it will be too expensive to try and keep him alive.

I've put down too many sick pets in my 51 years on this earth.. if he's suffering and it's the only cho

The mobile vet came out today, the doctor said she could only x-ray OzMonkey and then she gave me the address to a vet hospital that treats exotics. I brought OzMonkey today and they said, more x-rays, put him in an incubator with warmth and oxygen mask . They giving him fluids and trying to feed him. They gave him an enima and even though I showed her the article s in this community, she said the x-rays show he's impacted. I asked about his bloated arms and legs, she said she doesn't know without more tests. She said pray he makes it through the night.

If he can be saved, I won't put him down. And today would be the worst if he dies now. He was born on August 17, 2017, today is his 3rd birthday. Dragons have a lifespan of 10 years, not 3. He's my friend. I'm not ready to say goodbye.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your little OzMonkey.
I really hope that the vet did the enema correctly because many times they end up hurting them & they don't
make it after one of those. Impaction doesn't seem likely but what is he eating that could have cause impaction
for him?
Can you review your tank setup, such as the type/brand of UVB lighting, (other than taking him outdoors), the
supplementation, etc? Pictures of him would be great, so we can see his physical condition. Just how long
has the swelling been present? How long on average does he receive UVB lighting on a daily basis?
It sounds like he may have gout but, pictures would be very helpful at this point. If his beard is black & stays
black then he is likely in pain & distress. He is young, so it is possible he could come through it but not sure.

Let us know how he is doing.

The vet says he has gout.
Everything I purchased is from this website recommend and I purchased through Amazon. I don't know how to upload videos or pictures.

OzMonkey has been at ER 48 hours. I've heard or read nothing since 5pm, on the 18th of August, 2020. Maybe they'll call me tomorrow and let me take him home.

I have 40 gallon tank. I have reptisun light for the 12 hours in the day, everything on a timer. Then a combination UVA/UVB that you'll recommend. And an individual spot light in it's own ceramic and metal housing. The substrate is that green looking carpet roll, looks like thin green AstroTurf... I guess. His food and water dishes, came with the aquarium. He has 3 different sized grape vine branches and a half log, he goes under. He has his stuffed Monkey animal, he chose when he was a baby. He has a cat toy of an alligator, he dragged into his vivarium. He gets bathed 2x a week. I feed him, combination of greens, changing it up as he gets finicky. He gets, 3 types of cabbage, raddichio, kale, collard greens, boc choy, blueberries 2x a week, piece of apple.

I feed him on 3x a week, dusted Super worm (1-3) and alternating with Dubia roaches. When he hasn't been in the tub to soak, I must him. When the sun is out, he has a favorite spot in our tree where he sun bathes. Indoors, I handle him often or he sleeps with Kidd, my Mainecoon cat.

Once you show me how to upload pictures, I'll do this.

By the way, I change out his lighting, every 6 months. I watch every YouTube video I can find on Bearded Dragon husbandry I can find. I read about these dragon as well. Every video, website , book all say the opposite of what to do and not to do. And yet, I always find myself here. I use to have another account here, but I don't remember my email that I used, SOI made new account.

OzMonkey is 3 years old and up until 2 weeks ago, never had any issues. So, if I'm doing something wrong, I hope someone can help me change bad habits, so OzMonkey may continue to thrive.

Hello,

Sorry he has gout, it seems to be a common thing now.
I wasn't able to see the video, it could just be expired, I am not sure. It is easy to upload
pictures here though. Simply click on the XIMG button here to upload your pictures to the
image gallery. Then, copy/paste them onto here using the IMG function I believe.
The Reptisun 10 is a tube correct & it is how far from him, is it mounted on top of or underneath
of the screen top?
For now, I would cut all cabbage out since they are high in goitrens & can contribute to kidney
issues. The superworms are fine, but maybe consider crickets or silkworms or hornworms too
for some variety. Since dubias are naturally high in uric acid, for now, I would cut those out as
they have been known to contribute to gout conditions. He is an adult, so he could get by with
30 or less insects weekly with focusing on the vegetation & fluids right now.
What type of foods do you gutload your dubias with & what do you feed your superworms?
Did the vet recommend any type of treatment or medication for him?
You can also get some black or tart cherry juice to help start breaking up some uric acid for
him.

The vet doctor just called and said, they're going to keep him for the weekend. I dropped him off on the 17th of August, I hope to pick him up on the 23rdbof August. She told me, OzMonkey's kidneys have shut down, so they have him on dyalicis. They told me, no more protein. No more roaches, worms, etc. Since OzMonkey I s 3 years old he needs to be on a special diet. No carrots, no kale, no cabbage and absolutely, no fruits. She said, she will explain the diet when I pick him up in Monday. She also said, I will have to learn how to give him dyalicis. 0_o

The bill most likely will be around $3,000.00. Of which I cannot afford.

So...

Hello,

Oh no, I am so sorry about what happened, good grief, that is extremely expensive!
Can they not decrease any of the cost at all?
How is he holding up, poor thing, I feel so bad for him.
He sure is a youngster to have these issues.
Let us know how he is doing. Will you be able to see him this weekend?

Due to evasive treatment at the Vet hospital, OzMonkey has passed away. Kidney failure.

I've had OzMonkey for 3 years, since he was hatched... I don't think, I will get any more friends. However, I just purchased brand new bulbs. I will be selling my enclosure and all washed accessories.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
