When Temps change?

When summer finally gets here. My house will be any where from 75-85 degrees. We do have an air conditioner in the living room (where Deja is) but its more like a fan.

My question is Will I have to change the watt bulb in his cage. Right now he has a 75watt bulb. His cage is 104 on the basking spot and 81-84 on the cool side. His cage is 48x24x24

I think youll just have to monitor your temps and change bulbs accordingly. My reptile room is in a converted attic which can get REALLY warm on hot days, so sometimes I wont use any lights at all. But yes, I guess you may need to change bulbs based on the temps. I dont know that any of us can really tell you exactly what youll need because its all so variable. Good luck!

Another way to approach this is with 2 timers. In the cages where I have a reptisun 10.00 fluorescent tube and a basking bulb, I have a timer shut off the heat bulb at around 4pm. This will mimic the day cycle of summer where the heat peaks at around 4pm. The UVB remains on so it isn't actually "nite."

It is an alternative to lowering the wattage, and a little experimentation will give you the best course of action.

We put a board on top of the open area of the screen (if that's the kind of enclosure you have) and were able to lower the wattage of the bulb and keep the temps regular. might help you also. Also keeps the rooms temps down. here's a pic! eta: with proper pic! lol

I change my bulbs depending on the time of year. I maintain 110 degrees year round, with 100 watt in the winter, 60 to 40 watt in the summer.
