When should I start a dubia colony?

I'm excited cuz i just got my starter colony from the roach guy. 250 mixed with two adult pair. I already had two more females prior to the kit. He also threw in 10 more large nymphs so I'm psyched. I have 6 males and and 4 females. I'm thinking of grabbingsome more females from my local pet shop though.

I would recommend buying at least a dozen more females. Right now you have 6 males and 6 females. Trust me, I was in your position a month ago. The males will fight. Which translates to them killing each other. Get more females. I used to have 12 males and 12 females. Next thing I know, 3 dead males (one was beheaded) and 1 dead female. I bought 26 more females and started feeding a higher protein roach chow, and no more dead adults! Just something to consider!

yea, i read that. that's why i was going to buy some more females from my local pet store. I have already caught one of my females mating. I only have one beardie and a baby tarantula that i've been feeding the remaining crickets i have.
