Good Evening! Two weeks ago, I adopted this three year old, male bearded dragon. Dexter, the adopted reptile, was living in this HUGE bird cage (Wood with plexi glass front), and a female bearded dragon. Anyways, he was removed from that situation and has stopped eating and has NOT used the bathroom. It has been two weeks and I am getting very concerned. He has been offered Kale, Bell Peppers, Crickets, mealworms, wax worms, pheniox worms, superwoems, and hornoworms, but He has only taken 5 small superwoems. :( Dexter is so attentive and just loves receiving attention. Besides not eating or using the bathroom, he acts "Normal". I am running out of options and want to make sure he is ok. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

P.S He is soaked in the evening to help him stay hydrated. He is not impacted, but i have been told that stress can really effect reptiles.....

Yes, stress can cause that behavior. You can offer any or a combo of these : some unsweetened applesauce , canned pumpkin [ no spice ] baby food squash or sweet potato with a few drops of veg.oil.

Do you have pics of him + his new set up ?

I will have to try the food suggestions. But in the mean time, here are some pictures of him.

Hello,

Overall he looks good though, his physical condition is nice & has great colors. Has his
beard been black at all?
Dexter is a great name for him. He could possibly be a bit impacted along with being
stressed from being moved around & having his environment changed some. As suggested,
try the softer food combination for him in case he is impacted some from the loose
substrate he was on previously.

Yep he's a good looking boy....and looks the image of good health to me.

Have you tried giving him 0.4ml of olive oil by syringe (orally - FROM SIDE of the mouth, it usually gets my gang going). Not much solid food in --> not much poo created so it could be white between poos for that reason alone, and also some dragons have much slower metabolisms and are more efficient in processing their food.
If you can't feel any hard lumps in his tummy , he's likely just saving it up and fine.

Would be worth having a reptile vet check him out and maybe take xrays (impactions and blockages (due to ingested bedding) will show in the image. There are risks involved in a dragon getting an enema.

Soaking in the bath WILL NOT HYDRATE a bearded dragon UNLESS he drinks some of the bath water while there. They DO NOT absorb moisture through their skin or via their cloaca (arid zone dwellers).

Might be issues with the setup (UVB and or temperatures) so Here's my Cheat Sheet :

If you work through it methodically , the chances are there are likely a lot of issues that need to be tweeked or changed and they will pop right out at you, if you can give very detailed answers we will then be in a position to offer help. Is impossible to help you if you don't provide thorough details .

The issue might also be dietary : see viewtopic.php?f=18&t=236074.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
