Ah! It could very well be the low temps, babies don't eat well if their basking spot is under 105*ish.

I'd bath him daily until he begins to eat...or at least drip water from his nose so he can lick it off several times a day.

So the crickets stayed in the dish? I'm shocked!

Also sometimes to get them started on their salads it takes hand feeding a few bites each morning to prime them. Even when mine aren't really eating much salad they usually will take a bite or two this way.

Yeah its crazy that the crickets dont even jump out of the glass dishes. You may have to put it next to something he can use to get into the dish. Cut up some veggies really really small and try adding those to the cricket dish just not to much or the crickets will use them as a launching pad. And it will feed the crickets too. Sounds like you have a tricky little one lol

Did you give the squash to him plain or cooked? Mine prefer it to be soft and cooked over the hard and crunchy.

I shredded it raw. So it was cold and mushy. :)

Gave him a quick bath and let him wander around a bit tonight. He did drink a little bit of water. Scared me, though, because usually when I come home he's basking, but today he was curled up in a ball in a corner of the tank. :(

I do think he's eaten some of the salad, but it's hard to tell...

if he starts losing weight take his poo in for a fecal..ecspecially if you notice him sleeping during the day,, and not being active... relocation stress can last for up to two weeks,,but they usually get over it faster than that,,try to minimize the holding during this time as they are getting use to their new cage ,,and sourroundings..

Kinda hard to figure out if he's losing weight. He weighs practically nothing as it is. But I'll try to do so!

soo i take it hes a baby??? and all lizzards weigh something in grams , plus watch if his legs get real skinny like , no muscle and you can start to see the tail bone then take him to the vet.. but if hes a baby, like a real young one then a sure sign is his activeness , if hes just laying there chances are hes not feeling well, i mean my max is 8 months old , 200 grams and 16 inches long and hes always running in the cage, so a sure sign is their activeness,,..try hand feeding his worms,,or fruit,,max loves apples,,..just dont give alot it gives them the runs

Steve, I said this on your other thread, but I'll say it here as well. You may want to start considering babyfood if he doesn't eat in the next 24 hours. Some relocation stress is normal, but with a little baby, you don't want to let them go to long without food...

ya sara is right,,plus baby food will kick his hunger back in and it will make him realize that he is hungry..i forgot all about that trick...

I agree about the babyfood. We have two beardies that we got as babies, they had been injured by a tankmate. We treated their injuries and fed them babyfood, the one I use is chicken with veggies. And it worked. I fed the little ones by putting lots of calcium poweder w/d3, mixing it up well, warming the babyfood (just a bit on a plate) and having them lick it off my finger. It worked like a charm. They had both been curled up at the bottom of their tanks, stress marks too. When I started feeding the babyfood, they both finally got on their basking spot and within a week were eating tons of crickets daily, also eating their collard greens/squash salads. I would chop up the squash in my small food processor and cut the collard greens in tiny pieces. Now they're 17 mo old; Issy is 416 grams & 13" long (missing prob about 5" on her tail) and Rubio is 750 grams and 21" long with a tail nip.

So if your little one is still not eating, try the babyfood, it really works. I liked the chicken babyfood, it's like a paste & because it also has veggies was very filling for them.

We also use babyfood on our adults if they lost their appetite, for whatever reason. Just a bit seems to get their appetite working again.

Good luck with your baby, I saw pics on your blog, such a cutie!

Take a deep breath !! Not to worry... I agree with everyone. When MJ moved, it took her 3 WEEKS to get back to normal ! I panicked EVERY SINGLE DAY and literally posted a new thread under beardie E.R  from panicking ! Now she's pooping and eating back like a beardie ! So even if Khalil doesn't eat after the 4th day, it's ok, just give him more time and more cuddles !! :D

Day 4 has dawned here, with no marked change in Khalil's behavior. In fact, he has seemed a little sluggish to me. Last night he went to sleep an hour before the lights went out, and this morning I left the house at 7, and he wasn't awake yet, despite the lights going on at 5:30 (and me banging around putting fresh salad in there, and my son getting dressed, etc.) But after I took my son to school, I swung back to the house, and he was up and about, and sitting on an old t-shirt that I've put in there, from where he can access either the greens or the crickets.

I was surprised the crickets stayed put, too. The temps have been more consistent. Right now the basking spot is at 109 and the rest of the tank at 82. Unfortunately, the only scale I have is an analog kitchen scale, and it's gradation is such that I really can't tell the difference if he's on there. Maybe I need to get a digital scale.

I'm at work now, but I'm going to check on him at lunch time. There's a pet store and a supermarket right near here. I may swing by, grab some baby food, and see if the pet store has any phoenix worms, just to see if that will tempt him.

If I do end up feeding him baby food, what's the process? Do I just put it up to his nose? Put it ON his nose?

And regarding cuddles, if anything he's getting FEWER cuddles. I'm afraid to pester him because he's so stressed out. :(

I personally do not suggest feeding him baby food. Yall need to understand that relocation stress can last from 0 days all the way to a month. yes a month. He will come around in his own time. There is no need to panick at all. Honestly fretting over him and constantly checking on him may cause more stress then less. What you need to do is block his view out of his tank. use something like a towel to block him from seeing out and seeing any movement that goes on in the room he is in. Offer him salad all day and offer live feeders periodically throughout the day. He will start perking up soon. Too much change too fast makes these lil guys shut down. Thats why covering the front of the tank for new dragons, especially babies, is one of the easiest ways to cut down on relocation stress.

If you feed him baby food you are going to cause other issues such as him wanting to refuse normal food because he wants the baby food. not to mention it is messy and though ok to be used as a pickme up it is not actually beneficial to their naturally occuring gut flora. He will not starve himself to death. You just have to give him time. If you truly feel the need to get something in him, the only thing i would suggest would be some O'Soy yogurt just for the boost from the accidophiliz in it. But not baby food.

Quick update. Checked on him at lunch, and he was on his basking spot, looking like a normal beardie, but no noticeable dent in his salad, and not interested in crickets. Got home a few minutes ago, and he looked like this:

Sorry for the lousy pics. He's breathing, but very slowly. I don't want to disturb him. I want to feed him, but he has live crickets in a glass dish, plus the salad, so there's not really anything else to offer him.

Is it normal for him to be asleep like this during the "daytime"?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
