I got my dragon, Odin 3 weeks ago and he's 3 maybe 4 months old. He's been eating, drinking and pooping brilliantly but about a week ago I've been getting him out more since he needed time to settle. Since he's been out more, sleeping on me etc he seems reluctant to eat/bask until he comes out for 10 minutes In the morning. I thought nothing of it because I'm usually in the house in the morning and I know he needs time to wake up and absorb heat etc however when I went to work once my partner called to tell me that Odin hadnt moved from the cool area, he was dark and refused to eat and bask. When I got home late afternoon I took him out and within 10 minutes he lightened up and when put back in went straight to bask and ate when I put crickets in for him, he's been doing this for 4 days. Staying dark on one side of the cage, not basking or eating until I get him out and within 10 minutes he turns light and wants to bask/eat and is normal for the rest of the day. It doesn't work if my partner gets him out either, he stays dark and goes back to the cool area but as soon as I walk in he runs up to the glass, I get him out, his colour returns to normal tone and he goes to bask for hours.

His temperatures in the hot area are 90/100, basking area is 100/110 and his cool area is 80 (temperature differs depending on how long his lights have been on for) only change that has happened is he was moved from bedroom to living room and I removed sand and placed down newspaper until he has reptile carpet as I was misinformed when buying him about what he should be kept on. I'm probably reading too much into it but all I've done is worry so I think I'm over thinking it but just checking if any of you guys had suggestions.

Thanks guys, sorry for the ramble! I'll be posting an introduction to Odin when I get home from work, this website is brill and sorry if I've posted in the wrong section, much appreciated.

It sounds like he has grown attached to you =). Do you see signs of a shed (light or waxy skin)? That could have him a bit moody. Can you post some photos of him and his enclosure? You can upload photos here https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ and post them to your thread using the XIMG button when you reply.

Here's my little Odin, I got in from work today to see that he's beginning to shed on his legs, so I've given him a bath and he's snuggled into me asleep now; I'll be sure to look through the website about shedding.

Being a new owner to a beardie is so worrying! I haven't stopped worrying since I've bought him, thank you for replying!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
