BD going to the bathroom? i have two males which only go about once every 2 weeks, they are about a year old and over a year old one is 20 inches the other 17.5/18 inches long noes to tail tip.

i was just wondering if that sort of normal or a beardie of that age/size?

i feed maily supers and they get silk worms as well as some dubia every now and again (will soon start using my dubia colony so they will get more of them started with 10 now have hundreds :) )

any info would be great, as i saw the bigger boy go bathroom and he looked like he struggled with it, i bath them 2 times a week for 15 mins.

thanks.

What uvb bulb do you have?
What substrate do you house on?

Most older bearded dragons do not go everyday. Their metabolisms just aren't as fast as when they were younger.
If it makes you feel any better, my female goes about 2-3 times a week. My male goes every other week.

Female (she will be 3 yrs old this yr) has a diet of supers, crickets, waxworms, collard greens/dandelion greens/those nutri square things.
Male (he will be 4 yrs old this yr) has a diet of supers, crickets and occasional butterworms and nutri square things.

I think that he goes to the bathroom so little because he lacks the fiber he would be given from vegetables (he just won't eat them. I've tried everything)

Both dragons have the complete exact set up.

I would hardly call "about a year old" an old dragon. Which is why I was trying to help.

No they are not "old". I was referring to "older", or past their immediate growth stage. And yes, I am aware that dragons continue to grow until they are about 2 yrs old. However, their first year is critical in growth, having to grow 1000x their size in the first year or life.

Her dragons are a year and so old and they are 17-20 inches long! Haha. My male is only 19 inches and female 18 inches. Every dragon is different :)

Anyway, at this age they SHOULD be going to the bathroom a little more than once every 2 weeks. They should be going at least 2 or 3 times weekly minipumpkin.

You did not mention if they eat vegetables of any kind, which is why as a comparison I showed you what my female and male eat and how often they go to the bathroom. Vegetables make a world of a difference and at about this age, they should start eating a little more of them than the feeders =).

thanks for the infomation GlueStick, iv tryed lots of diffrent stuff, the only thing i could get them to eat is rocket lettuce which they have stopeed eating. so now i guess i will have to try some other stuff, might just try something new each day and see if they go for it as at the moment iv only been feeding 1 silk worm a day to try get them hungry enough to eat veg.

thanks again

You are very welcome! =D

Have you tried butterworms or hornworms? They are great laxatives XD
Also, try buying a bunch of crickets and feed them vegetables. This is where "you are what you eat" can be applied. Its the only way I can sneak vegetables into my males' diet.

cant get hornworms here in the uk, they are a 'pest' butterworms are very expencive which is why i buy slikworm eggs and raise them and use them as another feeder.

as for the crickets it would be the same for my dubia colony, which is just about ready to start feeding from, as they are fed veg of sorts, going to the shop later to get a few things and see if they like any of that.

so i shall see what happens :)

thanks

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
