Hello,

I recently got 200 dubias with 4 pairs of adults on the way. My question is what watt heat emitter would be sufficient to heat the roaches to a proper temperature. I do not have any experience using HE therefore am not really sure what size to use. It does get fairly cold in my room where temps will be around 60's at night. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Todd

P.S: They are in a 56 quart plastic container

I use a heating pad (for back pain) from Walgreens *without the auto shut off*. It was 12 bucks. It works better than a heat emitter because the heat radiates upwards, and it's cheaper.

The heat pad would be placed underneath the tub, not inside of it.

Todd, I have never used the CHE's before, but judging the size of the container and the temps only being in the 60s at night, I would guess that around a 40watt should be sufficient depending on how you set it up. It may take around a 60 watt though, I can't be certain due to my inexperience there, but those are just two numbers for you to think about. You could always go with the 60watt one and if it gets it too hot, just raise it up above the bin a little higher til it keeps the temps where you want them, or possibly put it on a rheostat or thermostat to keep the temps steady, which I would recommend doing anyways. A decent thermostat would be preferred since the daytime temps are likely to be much higher and that would avoid major fluctuations in temps that could potentially cook the roaches.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
