I have a 40 gallon breeder right now for my beardie...I want to replace it with a reptile enclosure with sliding glass doors eventually...I don't really like having to slide the screen top off each time we need to get into her cage. I have an 18 inch reptisun 10 right now...24 would definitely be better but honestly, she spends most of her time on the warm side of her cage so I figure she is getting UV most of the day anyhow as it is. I found that I needed a 100 watt regular light bulb to get enough heat for her..she is in a room that is kept in the low 70's...make sure your light bulb is not as long as the fixture for it...I tested out a 150 watt bulb for a bit and it melted the screen top a tad  . RIght now, I am using a halogen flood light instead of the regular light because Bob at mega-ray recommended it to me...I am using a 75 watt bulb at the moment and at hte top of her basking spot, I am getting about 105 degrees which is perfect for her.
I have also purchased a mega-ray MVB to try...Bob recommended the 60 watt EB which is what I purchased. I have not set it up yet so I can't say much about it...but he did tell me that it would not generate enough heat on its own so he recommended that I supplement with a 50 watt halogen so I purchased both. I hope to get those set up sometime soon but I need to go by lowes and purchase some more fixtures first.
Hope this is helpful...I am still definitely on the learning curve but this has been what I figure out so far. Oh, if you have a screen on top of your cage and if your light/heat will be going through the screen, make sure you measure temps iwth the screen in place cause it blocks a lot of the heat and light. I bought a temp gun but I haven't figured out how to use it yet with the screen in place...the acu-rite from walmart is easy to use with the screen in place.
