I'm just curious, since i'm new, how do we (sorry for a lack of better term) send our beloved beardies or pets in general to their after-life? I read somewhere that burying can be illegal because of potential hazardous harm to nature. I read that some people have their pets cremated. how should one approach the lost of a beloved pet?

I like the option of cremation. I live in a small town and we have a lady who does pet cremation.

I rescue min pins and dachsies and many of my dogs are elderly. I have found cremation to be a great way to go. I have 5 of my dogs in very tasteful small urns on my mantle. It is much easier than the alternatives for me. I also don't feel guilt about having the vet just "dispose" of a beloved pet that I have owned for years.

Just an idea. The urns for a small dog are only a few inches tall. So just look like decorations on my mantle. No one even realizes its my dogs......so for a Beardie...it would be the same size.....or smaller.

I have my pets cremated when they pass away, including my sweet Jasper. This way he is always with me, even if I move.

Living in the UK we have stricter regulations regarding reptile aftercare. We are not allowed to cremate but we can bury (but we do have to try to persuade the vet to allow us). I was not allowed to bury Dex which I found very hard.
If I had the option I would have loved to Cremate.
My darling dog passed away after 14 years by my side. We had him cremated and we sprinkled his ashes in the wood behind my parents land. He loved it there and id like to think he's scampering around there still.

I just bury my pets.

Also you keep the ashes? :? Just have to ask why? But at least you did not have you're animals stuffed like some people do. Yes some people do that. In this case no one will even know they are dogs but I wonder why you would want that? Not the cremating thing just wondering why you would keep the ashes?

Some people feel the need to keep their loved ones physically close to them still. Some of us dont have gardens where we can buy our little friends and so have no grave to visit.
We all have different ways of grieving.
Sometimes grief transcends logic.
I dont think it is right that we question other peoples way of dealing with things.

They are in a ziploc in the freezer. Why you ask?? Because my daughter has to bury them but we keep forgetting to take them to my parents to find a perfect place for them. Parents live 3 hours away.

so it seems cremation is the most popular form huh? personally, i dont think i can stand to see my pet get burn after it passes away. i might have to re-think this again until i can come up with a good idea to deal with the lost of a beloved pet when and if I do get a beardie. thank you for everyone's input.

P.S. please dont argue. I hate to be responsible for people's misunderstandings.

Well when mine passes a cremation was too expensive, and actually, this sounds terrible, but any animal will make good compost.

If you have a garden of some sort burying your beardie is not all too bad for the environment. Let them become one with the earth.

ya compost does sound like a mean way of putting it but if you think about it cremating them then spreading their ashes is almost the same thing. just the word though to me sounds wrong... maybe ... natural cremation! :D that sounds nicer to me

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
