What the heck did my vet do?

I just came back from the vet with Ash. I could tell that the vet didn’t have that much experience with reptiles, but they did say that she seemed like she was just fine. They did do a good physical, but when it came to health and stuff, they had no idea what they were talking about. I decided that she was probably ok so I was just going to leave after they talked and stuff. Then, the vet said he was going to give her deworming medication, I said I didn’t want to but my mom was the one who took me and she said we should do it. The vet walked in with worming medication that you use for pinworms and stuff and gave her a dose. Then he told me to give her another dose in two weeks. The entire time I was just thinking “this vet has no idea what they are doing”. I will probably go get a fecal sample at a more experienced vet that I found. I do not plan on giving her the other dose of meds. What should I do about this? Is my beardie going to be ok? She is only 3 months and I am freaking out that the worming medication is just going to do more harm than it is going to do good.

Keep an eye on her …. very easy to overdose a reptile , especially a small one .

How much does she weigh ?

What was the medication ?

And what doseage was given ?

This will give us an indication of the likelihood of the med given causing issues (ie toxicity).

She is about 120 grams and they squirted .15 cc into her mouth. I don’t know what the medication was, it was white and foamy looking.

I'd be picking up the telephone and asking the vet what it is.

The common med. for pinworms is fenbendazole [ Panacur ] and thankfully is not harsh and is even pretty forgiving if too much is accidentally ingested. She should be fine but you are right, it should not be given.

Was ASh acting sluggish in any way before , not eating ?

Not really, I just wanted to get her a checkup.
