What size dubias are correct to feed??

I've read a ton of stuff about feeder sizes for our beardies. It always comes back to "nothing larger than the distance between their eyes".

Yet every video I've seen with beardies eating dubia roaches, the dubia is always larger than the distance between their eyes!! Is that OK? Some of them chew for about 15 to 20 seconds!!

Is it measured width-wise or lengthwise? I could see if they're talking about the width. In that case most of them would be OK.

Thanks all...

It is not ok mate.
The safest and most nutritional thing to feed beardies is small-medium crickets and small woodies. :)

i feed the adult males and my beardie just bites them in half and then eats the other half. I dunno if hes just smart or what. But when he bites them in half they are the perfect size for him to eat.

you still want to feed appropriate sized dubia to your babies. If you have a young beardie you would not want to feed a breeder size dubia to it. So just try to base it
on the size of your beardie. Use the smaller size dubia for the smaller beardies.

knowing the size of the beardie would help. Cause like with the superworms those are alot longer then the width between the eyes. But when the beardie is atleast 16 inches long its fine for them to eat supers. Just like with my adult beardie it eats full grown adult dubias perfectly fine, and these are alot bigger than the eyes. I feel like there are exceptions when they are bigger. When they are smaller though make sure to always go by the eye to eye width like stated.

Thanks! I've got 2 babies (which I will feed the nymphs), and 3 larger beardies, about 6 months old and about 14" each. Those are the ones I was concerned about.

Also I think alot of those YouTube videos are made for shock value. The owner gives the lizard the largest possible prey just to see the results. Adult dragons can handle fairly large prey though. I gave mine a 2" hissing roach a few days ago. When I ordered them I didn't think they would be so big. He did fine with it. But in the future I will order 1 inch size.

Even though the dubia shell is softer, I would think there is always a chance of impaction.

Although I can't recall reading about someone with that issue (using dubias)!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
