My male dragon Jaws has always been a relaxed easy going beardie. We had another male Jason(we've had for 6 years now) when we got him and they don't have issues. We have has Jaws for about 2 years now. Anyways we do have a new beardie (about 5 months now)Sophie. He dosen't like her at all and so they are in different rooms. For about the last week he has been freaking out. He has a black beard and bobs his head at nothing. When he is in his cage he constantly scratches and tries to climb out. When he is out he runs all over bobing his head. We have had no changes except that the other male beardie is not with him as much. We have had a some real nice and warm days (he got to go outside) but now its back to snow. Could he just want to go outside??

Hi,

Is Sophie a female beardie? If so, it sounds to me like he wants to breed with her! Even if they are in a dif room, your male beardie will still know she is there because the females have a certain scent they give off.

Yes, Sophie is a female... Is there a certain time of year that they breed? I only ask because he wasn't doing this before...
Must be hormonal...

Honestly, I only have one male & I don't breed him so I'm not sure. I have a good friend of mine who has 4 bearded dragons....(2 females & 2 males). She is alway telling stories about how her males head bob & tries to escape to get to the females! She said that her one male got so bad that she moved him to another room but he was still acting this way as he still knew the females were in the house! lol! She came home one day & found that her one male beardie had escaped his cage (she has home made enclosures) & was on top of one of the females cage trying to get in! lol! She (my friend) says that they will breed really young if allowed but that it is not healthy for them. So...I'm not really sure if it's a certain time of the year or maybe once they get over a year old & hit maturity that this starts happening. Hmm?! lol

Well I don't have to worry about breeding - my poor Jaws had some issues awhile ago that resulted in having to remove both hemipens...But I guess he still has the desire..

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
