What is this on my beardies tail?

Theres this yellow patch that can be seen in the below pictures on my beardies tail, it is bright yellow in colour and doesnt tend to change much he gets warm or cold (whereas the rest of his scales do) he's had this for nearly a month now, it hasn't grown in size at all and no other patches have appeared.

It might be worth noting that he has never that I can remember shed this area of his tail up until recently (had him 6 months) and lately this area has shed alot, but there seems to be at least another laywer of stubborn shed around this patch. Is it possible it's just an area that has shed fully for the first time, im hoping its nothing fungal, I have a seperate thread on the go cause he's been unwell and we're still trying to sort other issues out that he has going on.

As the surrounding area has seemed to be stubborn shed for a while now, I gently massaged this area with a toothbrush, including the yellow part, he did not seem in any pain at all in fact he seemed to enjoy it! The area is clearly not painful for him to touch.

I just thought i'd ask the question as he's due to start antibiotic soon for a suspected internal infection and I understand if this is fungal it could make it 10x worse!

Hi Tsmmy, right now it just looks like a patch that has she before the rest of the tail. Shedding questions come up here very, very often [ and it's always good to check if you're not sure ] but uneven sheds are perfectly normal, and adults take much longer to shed. Don't worry about excess bathing + toothbrush scrubbing, he will shed when he's ready.

By the way, may I ask what the suspected internal infection is and what + how long he'll be on the meds. ? He looks VERY robust, almost chunky so if he's not eating much right now, that is perfectly normal for this time of year. But you want to be sure he needs meds. before giving him something as harsh as antibiotics.

Hey AHBD, that's great news. Thanks for your input. My husband/mum told me I was worrying far too much and it's nothing, he's just had some really odd symptoms over the last month or so, and I wanted to rule that out..

The picture in my thread is a little old, he was a bit chunkier back then around 530g, he's now at 500g (he los a little weight but seems to have stabilised around this mark)

We took him to the vets a week ago as he had slowed down on his eating quite a lot and has had a darkish beard, been acting a little skittish.

They did a fecal test, xray, a scan and bloods. All of which came back clear, except for the bloods which tested as a low white blood cell count. I am no expert in this area, the vet said this could mean he is fighting off an infection, he didn't say what exactly, and therefore to be prudent wanted to give him a course of antibiotics to clear this up. I think its a three week course administered via injection every 3 days.
