What is this? Doesn't look like shed.

I rescued a beardie a few months ago. He had bad mbd, underweight, and parasites. He's been doing good but today I gave him a bath and it looks like his skin is falling off. To me it doesn't look.like shed. I have a pic below. Lately he hasn't been eating much, some days not at all. My other beardie is acting the same way so I figure it's just that time of year.

I couldn't tell you for certain, but that really looks just like really old shed to me. Makes sense if he wasn't well taken care of. If his scales were coming off, you would be seeing something more like this.

The flap that is still attached is thick, thick as skin would be. What was exposed looks to be light gray with scales. He is completely brown. Knowing there are scales still there was a relief. Is it possible he is actually gray In color and that all the old shed, if that's what it is, is making him look brown?

I don't think I have ever heard of a grey bearded dragon. Either way, its more likely your bearded dragon is grey due to neglect. Your beardie is more likely sand or brown colored.

Yeah neither have I but with all the types I thought maybe lol but Like I said he is brown. The grey underneath the flap is puzzling. He has gained so much weight and has been doing good and now this. Did I mention he is 3 years old and had the same uvb light until I brought him home and put a new one in. Idk how he is still alive.

Good thing you picked him up! He must have been tiny when you first got him.
Beardies are pretty hardy creatures. Why, there was even a case of a beardie losing all four of his limbs to his cellmates and diseases and he still managed to live more than 7 years or so! The thread is somewhere on this board if you want to see it. Pretty inspiring imo.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
