Just got my new beardie and I'm trying to figure out what to feed him. He is roughly 15-16 inches long and definitely a good eater. He was being fed dubia but I am unable to have them where I live. I would like to feed him something that I can breed so that it is easier on money. But that is a requirement. Any help?? I need to pick up food tonight.

Do you know how old he is? his age greatly determines his diet, as over a year they should be on a 80 percent greens 20 percent protein diet. Good staple feeders include Dubia, Crickets, silkworms or black soldier fly larvae.

He is approximately 2.5 years old. I have collard greens and butternut squash for him, I just picked up some crickets tonight. I am kind of looking into doing roaches but the thought of them getting loose in the house and infesting kind of freaks me out.

Honestly , It is a mental thing. Just dont think of them as roaches. They require relatively high temps to reproduce and prefer humid environments, they arent really an invasive insect. I've had them on and off for over 10 years now and never had any issue with any infesting, and I have had more then a couple get loose over the years. Also, with him being an adult dragon, you don't need near as big of a colony as somebody feeding multiples, or even just one juvenile .

Thank you for the info. I think I will go ahead and give it a shot. I know it is the best thing for him so I might as well try.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
