What is in YOUR beardy's salad?

Both of mine get the below mix everyday:

Collards
Turnips
Red Bell Pepper
Summer Squash
English Peas
A few days a week I sprinkle a little bee pollen granules on top

Neither care much for fruit or carrots but sometimes Mem will eat a little banana

I've noticed some greens are not always at the store when I'm shopping. Usually I go for collard greens, kale, escarole, mustard greens and dandelion. Although I hate buying dandelion when it grows in pesticide free areas all summer. I have access to fresh alfalfa too in the summer. I also will pick up chickory and cactus pads occasionally. I always have carrots, squash, and zucchini on hand. Fruit I give a couple times a month, not often. And I usually add nature zone bearded dragon bites too. Most of my dragons love them

As I compile this weeks shopping list of half a dozen different salad items for Ikran, I got to wondering. What is in YOUR bearded's salads?

Please make sure to include if the dragon is adult or younger(juvenile, baby etc). If you want you can post how often you feed what, or simply compile a shopping list type format.

Tomato (my guinea pigs eat this, if I have a tiny chunk left it goes in the salad)




Aren't tomatoes toxic to beardies? I thought that was why you weren't supposed to let the hornworms eat the tomato plants when breeding them!


Anyway, Mine usually get collard, mustard, turnip greens, kale every so often, butternut squash, sometimes carrots and sweet potatoes (have ground up and frozen and about once every few weeks give some)....hmmm...beardie bites becuase the baby LOVES them! and whatever else we have around, like tonight I am going to chop zuchini becuase I have some leftover, and chop up the squash for them.

I use my pampered chef salad chopper to cut up my leafy greens every day, and use my food chopper (also pampered chef lol) for the rest!

According to http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html tomatoes are ok rarely. I only feed a bite sized piece once a month or so.

How do you prepare: squash, green beans, peas, turnips, sweet potato and zucchini for your dragon? Do you give them raw?

Bindy's salad atm is;

Collard Greens
Kale
Bok Choy
Butternut Squash (Grated into nice soft bite sized chunks)

Typically I add some red bell pepper for colour.

She's still little, but she will eat it later in the day once it has dried out.

winter squashe
green beans
snap peas
snow peas
cantaloupe
apples

Occasional thing I throw in the mix:
kale
ridiccio
esparagas
red cabbage
chards
spinach

My 6 month Beardie gets collard greens,dandelion greens, butternut squash (put in mic for a couple secs then grated) carrots, sweet potato sprinkled with a couple of pellets! I cant find mustard greens anywhere! Even the produce manager at Zhers doesnt know what this is? Is this type of green specific to certain locations? I live in Ontario and would really like to find this!

Mustard is in the Brassica (sp) family, the same as collard, kale and cabbage.

I hardly find it at the store but grab it if I do. Do you have several different stores that have produce departments? Maybe one will carry it occasionally. I believe only one of my stores around here carry it, and its is only seasonal too.

Yeah I've looked in three grocery stores near me and nobody even knows what it is!!!! Oh well he loves collards and dandellion greens so I'll stick to that but keep my eyes open.

I give random stuff all the time. One day its mint and some watermelon, next its snowpeas and a little bit of spinach.Is that right, i don't know how to spell it??



I give allsorts of things. Carrot and snowpeas are his favs!!
