What Else Can It Be

I have had a few posts on here about the same subject...my beardie Geogie had a respiratory infection. She seems to be well now after two courses of antibiotic and Reptaid. Breathing seems normal, no discharge from eyes, mouth or nose. The big problem with Georgie when she got sick was that she stopped eating, and three months later she is still not eating! A couple of weeks ago she ate a couple of meal worms (that is all she would take, I tried everything else), she has continued to eat a couple every few days, but nothing else. Whilst she was taking antibiotics and for ages after I gave her probiotics for her tummy, she is bathed every couple of days. She has had a fecal done for parasites, this was clear. From my previous posts I know that my set up is good so I am just at a loss. I have also tried giving her Bee's pollen to stimulate her appetite....I just don't know what else to do :banghead: She seems to be maintaining her weight. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...I just feel like giving up!

I was also thinking brumation. But one thing taht helps me with stubborn beardies are hornworms. You can order them from different places, but even when my beardiea are sick they go crazy for these things. Try those. Also try giving her babyfood with a dropper to keep her going. I had to do that with many sick beardies.

You might want to have a go at mashing the leaves of some strong smelling herbs (basil/parsley) between your fingers near her nose, so she can really smell it. Apparently this can stimulate their saliva glands (or someting like that!) which can encourage them to want to eat.

As the other guys suggested, it could be brumation - is she spending a lot of time in the cooler end of her tank?

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it is brumation, it is very warm here in UK at the moment. I have been feeding her baby food for months, but when she first ate a few mealies I stopped thinking that her appetite was coming back. I don't want to start the baby food again and fill her up on that, otherwise she will never eat on her own. While she is maintaining her weight, I am gonna hold off on the baby food for a while.

Thanks for the idea about basil, i tried this today and she did eat a few mealies...don't know if it was a coincidence but I will definately try it again :D We can't get hornworms here in UK (they seem to be banned?) but I am expecting some butterworms and pheonix worms to arrive tomorrow, so perhaps these will tempt her x

Wow. m guessing that since hornworms are such vigorous eaters of plants they are banned. It would make since. that could destroy someone's crops if they multiplied. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
