Hi,

I'm a new beardie owner and other than using calcium supplements in their food and in baths, I was wondering what else I could/should be putting calcium in. Should I put it in their drinking water or in their spritzer?

Thanks!

Most people generally just dust their live feeders with the calcium powder or sprinkle on the salad. I have never actually heard of anyone putting it in their baths.

Is your beardie not eating any live food right now?

I agree with the above post..Calcium powder is usually dusted onto salads ...or Live feeders are dusted with it.

There is also Liquid Calcium available..is that what you are using in your bath?..I have never heard of either being used in baths?

Our beardies get calcium supplements to their veggies/fruits and insects (mini and medium size mealworms- but we're in the processing of ordering silk worms from a Reptile specific store we found in the suburbs) but at one of the pet stores we went to they told us that we could put the supplement in lukewarm water for their baths.

I had never heard of liquid calcium though. Then again, these are our first bearded dragons.

Liquid calcium usually does better than dusting on salads or live feeders. I know some owners who swear by it. Of course, so beardies, like mine, don't seem to take too well to it and absolutely refuse to lick it off their nose, thus dusting seems to be the only option. I think it is a matter of preference for both the owner and the beardie.

But as other posters have said, putting calcium on the salad and live feeders should be enough if you are using the dusting method. I don't really see what putting calicum in your beardie's bath water would do, especially if it is the powder kind. Since beadies absorb some water through their skin, it makes sense in theory, but I doubt they'd be able to absorb and benefit from the calcium that way. It is best to get it into them directly. As a general rule, you should take advice from the pet store with a grain of salt, since many, while have good intentions, don't know what they're talking about.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
