I'm taking my two beardies to the vets in about a week and wasn't sure what to take them in they're both about 16-17 inches so I don't know what to crry them in that's the right size and will keep them warm and safe as it is a 10 minute walk to the vets.
Thanks.

try a cat carrier. I've also seen at the pet stores, a small mesh carrying bag (usually used for ferrets I think) and they're about $30. Also whatever you use make sure to put a heat pad in with them. Quick and easy way is to put rice in a sock & tie the end of the sock. Throw the sock in the microwave for 20sec or so.. feel it on the inside of your wrist to make sure it's not too hot. They can lay on this if they get chilly along the way. Also ask your vet to warm them before you leave, if needed.

I use a plastic box, rubbermaid type, without the lid. I put a heat pack (microwavable, rice kind of thing) and plenty of towels so that my beardie is well hidden from the cold (it was near -10C when I took her to the vet). In the car, I opened up the towels so her little head could stick out, it was the cutest thing!
That works for me. and I didn't have to purchase anything!

My question to you is how well do they do on your shoulder? Personally, I would put them on my shoulder, on on each side between your shirt and coat. This keeps them warm from you body heat, our's prefer shoulder unless they are getting active and want to roam which doesn't happen when it's really cold.

I personally would suggest what "beardie parent" said. I always just put Pablo under my coat and a hoodie (if its extra cold out). He just hangs out and I find he is less stressed if I hold him because I will do this at home as well (zip him up under my hoodie so I can be more hands free and not worry about him falling). Of coarse I don't cover his head or anything unless I am getting out/in the car. He usually peaks out his head and upper body and is fully content there while at petco, vet, etc.

Shoebox is perfect! It is insulated, cheap and it keeps them from being stressed by seeing birds and stuff that might upset them otherwise (my guy is freaked out by birds, hawks to be specific). The rice sock is a great idea.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
