what do i do with the babies?

If i get any we only had 2 eggs that look good after 2 weeks most of the rest were all dinted in and then went mushy. Will the babies need the same set up as the parent like same temp and lighting and whats best to put in the botton of there tank i know they will need a lot of food but do i give plenty of calcium on the crickets and is there anything special i need? How long do i leave them where they are when they hatch and how long for there first feed and bath? Any info and tips you can give me will be great we need all the help we can get.

Their set up requirements are pretty much the same as it is for adults. When I had babies I used paper towels on the floor. It made for very easy clean up. If you only have a couple of babies you can put them in a smaller viv to begin with--just make sure that the temps can be regulated appropriately. I can't remember how long they incubate. 60 - 70 days or something like that. Mine were offered food from the beginning. I fed in a small rubbermaid container. Then I didn't have to worry about boatloads of little crickets hiding out and nibbling on the babies. Yes, you'll want to dust their crickets with calcium. And give them finely chopped veggies from the beginning too. They won't necessarily eat them but you'll want to introduce them right away. Their diet for about the first year or so is about 80% protein, 20% veggies. Small calci-worms are also good. I started warm baths right away too. I would put soak them for about 15 minutes every day. It was just part of our daily routine.

It's been a while since I had babies so I am remembering the best I can. I'm sure if I got something wrong more experienced folks will let you know. Good luck.

The basking temperature is higher for baby beardies. The temperature should be around 110F for babies within a few degrees is ok, but it is not recommended to go higher than 110. Adults basking spot is 95. Babies also need to be fed around 3 times a day as opposed to once or twice for an adult. Babies need to be supplemented with calcium 5 times a week and vitamins 2 times a week. That is all I can think of right now. I think wingnut covered the rest,

oh good luck we are only on day 18 and excited but with only 2 eggs left its not looking very hopeful but well keep trying. I think she may be getting ready to lay some more as she has started scratching so hopefully now we know we have a girl and have her a box set up we will have more luck with the next batch

Remember to not turn the eggs when you remove them from the lay box. Just in case you did the first time because I had a friend do that once and most of the eggs died the first time because the embryos sufficate if they get turned in the egg. If you knew that already then free bump!! :mrgreen:

Thank you i had read not to turn them yes but sadly the last 2 eggs have started to colapse and go furry but we tried and as we had no experiance or idea we had a female it is understandable but i think we could be in for some more eggs as she is massive again and getting fidgety so at least this time it wont be such a shock and we will have more idea what to do but thank you for all the replies and help
