What are oxalates?

I'm wondering what oxalates in food are and how they affect calcium absorption or hydration of reptiles? I've noticed in the food charts that some foods are listed as occasional foods due to having high oxalates, so I'd like more info about it. Thanks.

as far as i know i just stay away from them i believe oxalites affect the calcium from being absorbed into the dragons system
