Hello,
I have a baby beardie from PetSmart and I was trying to get a guesstimate on his age. I see everyone saying their 4 month old beardie is 8-10 inches & here my Mushu is barely hitting six after I have had him for 3 weeks. I was wondering what age does PetSmart begin selling their beardies at? I'll go in later this week to ask, but I was just curious as to if anyone else had the answer.

Or if anyone else has a PetSmart Beardie and asked the age themselves of when they purchased theirs.

Thanks :D

Good question. We bought ours from Petsmart and we asked and they honestly had no clue of the ages. Our lil guy was twice the size of the other beardies. He is like 8.5 in length now. My sons guess is that he is three months old(he has researched them more than I have but he is 10yrs old) but we havent a clue. So I just went with what he thinks. I would love to know the answer :D

Thanks Autumn. Mine as well. After I bought him, I went in the next day and there were TEENY TINY babies in the tank with the bearded dragon the same size as mine. I thought mine was about 8 weeks at least because i've had him for three, but he's so tiny still at 6 inches lol!. That makes me think PetSmart buys hatchlings. I wish I knew the age

I regularly see beardies that appear as young as 4 weeks at Petsmart, the larger ones being *maybe* 2 months. That was one of the nice things about getting my last 3 from local breeders, I knew their exact age.

My answer is "WAY TOO YOUNG!" Every time I go to my local PetSmart (which is a lot), I check out their beardies and they are SO SMALL. I can't imagine they're more than 2-3 weeks old. Personally, I think 6 weeks should be the bare minimum for selling a beardie.

We also got ours there. We also have had them for three weeks. I got the biggest one in the tank while my son's was about average. Here are some pics we took last night. They have both had one shed since we got them.

Ha, I was just about to make a post similar to this. I got my bearded dragon in June from PetSmart as well. They told me she (I assume it`s a girl, because I only see one bump ?!) was 4 months old. Hmmm odd, because at that time she did fit in my cars cup-holder, she was super tiny!!! I just recently measured her and she is now 8 inches....

From what my managers have told me,they are anywhere from a month to 3 months old :| Some do come to us very, very tiny..breaks my heart, and makes me want to take them home to get them as big as the one I have now..though I have made my management make many changes to how they are kept, some stores aren't so willing..

Charlie couldn't have been any older than 3 weeks. He was just over 4 inches. I wasn't too worried since I have raised a few from hatchlings, but he was definitely tiny. I have not measured him since, but I have had him since June and he is easily 9 -10 inches, if not more.

My Nim is from PetSmart. When I got him he was five and a half inches maybe six. I didn't know the age. But from what I know now he was probably four maybe five weeks old. The other beardies in the tank were the same size as him. When I went back there to get crickets I saw the beardies he was kept with must've got sold because the new babies are so freaking TINY! Four maybe five inches. Way too young to be sold. Too fragile. But my main problem is that they don't put 'holding until they are bigger' signs on the tank like they do for mice or birds! Beardies are way more fragile then birds.

Anyways, it's been three months since I got Nim and he is a little over ten inches. Plus no signs of sickness. Yay! :D

Thanks for all the great replies! I went in again yesterday & I'm sure it was a 2-4 week old baby in there. the only one, he was sleeping & sickly looking. Maybe 4-5 inches in length. Super tiny. I'm with everyone else on their being regulations in regards to the selling age. They're do fragile and need so much care.

Mine is around six inches, nose to tail. So I'm guessing 2-3 months would be a good guesstimation. They should send hatch dates with every batch

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
