Ive noticed that a lot of us keep geckos as well as our beardies. and i was wondering if i should be giving my leopard gecko regular baths like my beardie? do they need it?
he is full grown and really skiddish, i adopted him that way, so do you think it might be too traumatizing for him?

No baths, but a damp hide is always recommended. This helps with dehydration, shedding, and all around comfort. I tend to use the cups, the geckos were shipped in, with some peat moss, dampened. I leave around an inch between the lid and the soil, for roaming room, and check it 3-4 times a week, moistening when necessary.
Hope this helps !
Janie.

we bathe our geckos, they dont freak out nearly as much as the beardies do. and we keep a water dish in their cage that they actually drink from. we also keep a damp hide in for them but sometimes they just like to come out, get a few drinks from the dish and go back to the dry hide. its a small dish tho, maybe enough to cover their foot if they step in it, but enough for them to drink

We give our gecko baths, but that's because she appears to be dumber than a bag of bricks. We've tried several different shed boxes and she won't have anything to do with them. She's now got at most 3 toes on each foot because she loses them when she has a bad shed and we're not diligent about the baths. However, she does drink very well out of a dish, so if it weren't for the shedding issue, we probably wouldn't bother.

I have the same concern about shedding. I gave Rico a moist hide and he actually took all of the moss out of the hide and scattered it everywhere. and he has some shedding issues on his toes. i think well have to try some baths and see if he freaks out.

thanks for the advice, ill let you know how it goes! :?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
