Weirdo beardy

I accidentally fed my bearded dragon too much and later on that night when I went to turn off his light he opened his mouth a few seconds later (correct me if I'm wrong but I think I read somewhere that they digest their food with the heat from the light) so i thought that he might of just been getting too hot but he kept his mouth open a little longer and then I turned on his light and then a few seconds later he closed his mouth. I know that's a little backwards of what beardies do but do u think he was trying to say turn back on the light or something

Sounds like gaping to me. My dragon will bask for hours than go to her cool side and gape over there lol. Some of them just choose the most random times to let off extra heat. When I approach her Viv she always closes her mouth. I think she's worried I may try to sneak a green in ? I wouldn't worry too much. As long as his temps are correct, he has a good set day/night schedule, and your allowing him at least 2 hours of basking time after his last meal all should be fine.
