Hey guys,

I have a 2 year old beardie named Sake. I believe she is a she...I'm not 100% positive but pretty sure. Shes never had any problems I've had her since she was a baby. Shes in a 55 gal tank. Plenty of light and places to hide. Eats well. I've even been recently teacher her how to drink from her water bowl because like most beardies she wont go near anything that isnt moving lol.

My question is for the past couple weeks I've been hearing thumping and banging in her tank late at night. I set up a camera for the last week and maybe 4 days out of 7 last week I saw what the banging and thumping was. She is bobbing her head up and down. I've seen this before and know its a normal thing but is it normal to do when shes dead asleep? I'm positive shes asleep because last night i stayed up to see if she would do it. She did. Both eyes are tightly closed and shes def 100% asleep while doing it.

I'm just slightly worried because shes hitting her head pretty hard on her log. Its loud enough to wake me up. I dont want her to shake up her little beardie brain haha.

Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on? is it normal for a beardie to "sleep head bob"?

I've never heard of that before........maybe she's dreaming???

In any case, if she's hitting her head on her log loudly enough to wake you up, then I would remove the log when you turn out her lights for the night. If she doesn't seem real happy about you taking away her log, try substituting some sort of a hide for her to sleep in during the overnight hours. It doesn't have to be anything fancy....a small cardboard box with a hole cut in one end, and turned upside down will do, but it will give her something to sleep in, and if she does do her headbobbing routine while she sleeps, at least she can't brain herself on a piece of cardboard! Just a suggestion......

That sounds very odd!! I know that when i'm stressed or nervous about something I scratch myself in my sleep. Maybe she's just having bad dreams! I would suggest putting a blanket down so she can't hurt herself. Mine has been scratching on something in the cage before she goes to sleep. It keeps me up for hours!! So I feel your pain :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
