Usually, I order 2,000 reptiworms at a go to get me through a month. Last time, I accidentally ordered 3,000, so even though I've put in my next order, I still have 3 containers left. I normally reorder when I'm down to half my original order. Containers of 500 each - anyone who orders from reptiworms.com knows the containers I'm talking about. I just leave the reptiworms in there, in a mini fridge I keep just for them, temp about 50 degrees.
So here's the weird part - as I said, 3 containers left. Finished one out yesterday, so was going to start on another today. I opened it up, and first of all, I noticed that it stank. The faint odor you sometimes get, the one the website/packing slip warns about? It was terribly strong. Reptiworms were all over the lid of the container, as well as inside. And the bedding had... well, "liquefied," is the best way I can think to put it. It was almost totally liquid. All the worms were still alive.
Thinking I must have done it somehow, maybe leaving the fridge door open or something, I opened one of the other containers I had left. No problem - normal bedding, thick and with only a faint odor, and normal worms. Opened the other. Same thing.
When I get my order, I always open all the containers to make sure the worms have survived, particularly in the heat we've been having here. I had done that for this order. All bedding and worms were totally normal when I got them.
So they've all been in the same fridge, same conditions for all, as long as I've had them. I've gone through three of six containers, no problem. The other two remaining containers are just as they were when I got them. Anyone have any idea what happened here with that one, odd container? I'm completely befuddled.
(And hopefully needless to say, until I have some idea what's going on, I'm not feeding using that particular container. I opened one of the others, and got Wave's breakfast from there.)
