Weird finger bending??

This might be totally normal, but I just thought I'd ask.
Zelda bends her fingers and wrists in odd ways... like, really bends them. She often has three fingers under her hand and the other two out correctly. She also bends them back almost to where her knuckle is touching her finger.. I dunno if this is normal or not cuz I realize that beardies are flexible, but like I said, just thought I'd ask.

Yes I am using UVB, unfortunatly its not a tube, it is Reptisun 10.0 tho. Im hoping to get a tube in the next few days. And I am dusting w/ calcium, not vitamin tho.. the pet store people said she only needed the calcium. Thanks.. hope its not MBD.

My Brodie does the same thing. He was from a person who lost interest in him. He came with a "tube light" but they had left the plastic cover between the bulb and him. I removed this and replaced his so-so bulb with a Reptisun 10.0. He is not doing as much bending with fingers but still does it. I am basically treating him for MBD even though his jaw is not bendable and he doesn't have any other signs. He is more active since replacing his UVB adding Calci powder, vitamins, and Going from 10-20 crix once or twice a MONTH...yes MONTH to 30 crix daily and mustard/collard/turnip greens free fed. I suggest getting a tube bulb and removing plastic, adding calci powder vitamin powder and upping crix. whatever he/she will eat with in 10-15 min. Good luck! Keep us UTD (up to date).

If it is MBD, it sounds like the early stages and can be corrected- the tube should help. people in pet stores don't always have the correct knowledge and often give wrong advice unfortunately- you should dust with calcium 5 times a week and vitamin 2 times a week/ Let us know how he's doing :D

Ok, well, I'm going to town tomorrow and I'll buy a tube light. Do you mean the plastic sheet thing thats part of the hood? Oh thats not supposed to be on there? Hm.. I have a hood (thats what theyre called, right?) that came w/ a 12watt Zilla UVB light. Can I put a ReptiSun 10.0 in it?? Will it fit? Yea, and I kno that I have to up the crix... my mom lost her job recently and we havent been able to afford 20-30 crix a day. I can/am going to figure out a better situation for that-soon. Can I substitute some of the crix for worms?
Well Zelda's doin ok, no other symptons that I can see/feel, er, maybe except laziness but I assumed it was because of winter.

:? yea... I trusted her because she had beardies too, but ya kno, she told me they could be housed on sand... without having to worry about impaction..... im gonna fix that soon too.
:) thanks.

Hi i just got my Bd 3 days ago i got a gd uva/b i leave on 12 hr a day an he still bends his finger an his long hind toes are really bendy. I think the pet shop near me has no clue how to care for them properly. They told me all the wrong thngs to do. Luckily i came on here first an was told the correct way to care for then. Bt his toes have been bendy since the day i got him. I blame the pet shop, for nt caring enought.

Yea, Zelda was bendy ever since the day we got her... so, I think its the pet store's fault. They people were really nice tho. And they had a pretty nice place. Lots and LOTS of fish and crabs and that stuff. Their reptile area that bad either. They had several "types" of beardies; the Pirates (thats what Zelda is. Theyre the ones with missing toes/limbs), The Normals, and the In Betweens ( i dont think thats what they were called, but they were the ones with only a few missing toes). They had water dragons, lots of geckos, tarantulas, and one big monitor (i think, he/she wasnt for sale). The products didnt seem that bad, tho they didnt have any Repti-Sun or anything like that but there were the usual hammocks, skulls, A LOT of fish furni., and lots and lots of sand.... :? They closed down tho... I dunno why, but they did. Meh.
Soo today, I did go to the pet store (not that one ^^^) and got a Repti Sun 10.0, a ceramic heat emitter, and some worms (worms-stocking stuffers). I got the heat emitter because right now we just have a red bulb and thats too bright so Zelda doesnt get any sleep (thank the pet store, they totaly set Zelda's tank up... :| ). Will her sleeping more help w/ the MBD? I mean, its not like she got no sleep at all, there was still the hour or two she slept with me during snuggle time, but the other 8+ hours of the night I think she just sat there watching me...

Wellp, thanks :D and Merry Christmass!!!!

alright what means bending? my Dragon Puff sometimes runs and then he forgets to put his hand down, and when i put him somewhere down his 2-3 fingers are under his hand "knocked" or so,, but then he puts them into normal , was it just because he was staring or thinking at something? this only happens when i put him down and hes thinking and staring at something what is really intresting for him, he couldn't have a MBD bcz im dusting his crickets with a LOT of calcium, he was sunbathing the whole summer long, im going to buy and pray that the petshop will have a ReptiSun10.0 tube bcz im using ReptiGlo 10.0 26W Bulb right now, and in January it will be 6 months that the bulb is active o_O

Well, I mean that Puff (hail the Puffalumpians :D ) actually curls her fingers under her hand, either when she just stops moving or when I set her down. And sometimes she brings her palm/hand forward and her fingertips stay behind so theyre bent all weird. Ive started correcting her when I see her do it... And we're putting the Repti Sun 10.0 in today, and tonight we're gonna use her heat emitter. Those were part of her X-mas presents.

:D :D :D MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! :D :D :D

Hope your New Year is filled with lots of snuggles and buggles!

Im not sure whether it is MBD or not but Im just trying to keep it from becoming that. If you look at the first post by catUK, theres a link w/ the symptoms and whatnot. Its pretty helpful.

Ok. So tonight I decided to really watch her while she walked around and I noticed that the bending happens really bad on her left hand, and thats the hand that has scars from when she was a baby (pics tomorrow). So, me and my mom have a theory that theres some bone damage in those fingers. In the other hand, she doesnt bend her fingers-only her wrist. So theres that. Also I was wondering what exactly a "soft jaw" is. Is it actually like soft n squishy on the outside or the bone is soft. Im sorry if I seem totally un-educated, but in my (whatever number of) months of researching, it never crossed my mind to educate myself on the diseases.. :? That jaw question also goes for the legs, soft legs? As in the bone or muscle? Im not actually sure as to what a "healthy" beardie leg is supposed to feel like... Puff's are just squishy but strong (bone is strong-what i can feel at least) Soo... yea. Again im sorry if I should kno all this but Ill make sure to research more! Thnx!

The "soft jaw" means you can bend the bone in her jaw. If you press on the bottom jaw and it bends you need to take her to a vet and have them treat her for MBD. Brodie was doing the same finger bending and he seems to not do it as much any more. Hes has 3 weeks or so of the Repti-Sun 10.0 and it has made a world of differance!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
