I had Ngarehu out for his usual nap last night and, when I was petting him, I noticed he kept flinching. Eventually I realized that it was only when my fingers stroked a particular black scale on his back.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't there last week.
I'm wondering if it's a bruise or if I should be really worried?
This was taken around the 1st (officially one year old!)
The following images were taken a few minutes ago in his bath.
His flinching:
Fully fired up. You can see how the weird scale just... doesn't really change. It's the scale with the weird dark stripe. I don't know how else to describe it.
His appetite hasn't been very good, but I think it's because he's constipated (he hasn't pooped in four days). I just gave him some olive oil to loosen him up a bit.
Husbandry:
40 gallon breeder
Basking temps between 95-100F
The rest of his cage is around 85F
Reptisun 10.0 replaced about a month and a half ago.
Diet: collard greens, mustard greens, basil, dandelion.
Superworms, butterworms (every other day), and roaches. (he usually has hornworms as well, but I'm currently out)
Everything is dusted with calcium daily. Once a week, he gets multivitamins (herptivite).
He last went to the vet two weeks ago and his fecals were completely clear.
His behavior is pretty normal otherwise. He's been lazy lately, but I'm blaming the weather on that one. When he's out of his cage, he's active and friendly. He skitters around the room before settling on my lap to nap.
