Weighing Your Beardie and Hours of UVB

Does anyone use a scale - maybe a food scale (????) to weigh their dragon regularly? I'm thinking of doing this and if you have a brand suggestion I would be most appreciative! I've never used a food scale so I have no idea if it would even accomodate a dragon!

Second...exactly how many hours of UVB exposure does a dragon need? I know/see a lot of people with their dragons out for a large portion of the day, which means they aren't under lights (obviously) so....what is the general rule of thumb? I sit with my dragon outside for a good hour a day in the sunshine - and she has two uvb lights in her area - one I need to change - but I like her to sit on my lap and be carried around, but I worry I'm not giving her enough 'light' time??? :idea:

you can use food scales. What I do is balance it out with a bowl big enough for my dragon first, then put the beardie in the bowl, so pretty much most if not all their body is over the scale.

For the second question, I don't keep my dragons out for very long. But I don't think a few hours without uv would do any harm. It's not sunny clear skies all the time, and they probably hang out in the shade sometimes.

As far as the food scale, I got one of these in red. It works well, I put a tupperware on it and put Sarth in the tupperware. You can set them up so you can put the bowl on it and reset the weight to 0.
