I'm aware you guys are really against pet stores, well at least most of you are and i'm really really really sick of mine. I was hoping to make a website, kinda to target the horrible care of pet stores and in hopes to draw attention to the treatment of animals. My boyfriend is in graphic design and would love to set something up. Of course Beardeddragon.org would be a place on the site front page for a place to go to animal caresheets and info but I'm more or less looking to make a website/blog type deal asking people to tell and share stories about their pets store in, like I said, the hopes it will draw attention and maybe have people rise up to help stop this mistreatment of animals.

I think it's a good idea! The only pet shops I have near me are petco and petsuper market and our petco is the worst!! Our petsupermarket is ok as long as this one guy isn't working!! Although I wish we had a better option!

I have a Pets Unlimited, they nearly killed Thil on me and since then I cannot stand them. Since it was really hard and expensive to ship crix in I had to buy from them and it broke my heart. I plan on doing something like a weekly scoop on the site where I'll check out whats going on in the store and how the animals are doing. I wanted to have like a blog page where you could post about the pet store around you, what has been going on, what issues you have, it can be anonymous or you can leave your name. I will have a link to this site, and like i do with many people I meet while out with Thil I will continue to stress the amount of research you need to do before purchasing any kind of pet. I'm not expecting to change the world, I would like however to put pressure on our pet stores so that they change, make things better for the animals. I was hoping to get to go around my schools and talk about Thil, write some letters to my newspaper. I'm going to contact my SPCA though I know they can't do anything and some other cruelty to animals places around the maritimes and hope to get some front line help. I would greatly appreciate if you guys would talk about your stores, or atleast share the site to your friends when I get it up and running. Thank you =D

So what we have so far for ideas are :

- Testimonials , from you guys , it can be anonymous or you can leave you name, also have to put the store, location etc. Because of this we are going to have like a search function so people looking for a review on a store around them can find it. Testimonials will also be peer reviewed, people can rate or comment (add things or recount similar experiences or disagree)
- Also want a page where people can talk about the pets ,just a little tibit about an animal, so people can decide if they wanna think about it or not ( i'm also going to have a link to this site, and some other site for like care sheets and stuff for said animals)
- I'm going to put up a sort of check list, a "what to look for to see if the animal you wish to purchase is healthy, if you can trust this pet store" sort of deal, just signs to look for, like how the animals are set up, if animals look sick etc. Also stress the need to phone a SPCA or something if you think the animals are being mistreated.

We are still brain storming and are welcoming any and all ideas I'll also have a contact me email set up so if you guys or anyone on the site wants to contact us personally can, if they have any articles or things like petitions or stuff like that added to the site I may set up a page for shelters (locations/contact information) set up by area for people to search, same with Breeders, so if any breeders on here would like to advertise where they are located, and shipping areas I will gladly put them up. Also thinking about setting up a page so you can tell your stories like your rescues or about animals you bought from pet stores that were really sick, how you helped them etc.

Also wondering if you guys would be for a member sort of function or would it just be better to have sort of just a free posting thing where there is no joining the site?

If I get it up spreading the word would be great. We can't really make people realize what pet stores are doing, but if we spread the word and it gets around maybe we can help people realize. I'm sick of seeing kids crying because they got a friend that died in two weeks, i'm sick of seeing animals waste away do to improper care. I know its been done a million times before but with help from you guys we will stop it.
