We were given eggs

A friend of ours had to go out of the country for a bit and he couldn't take his eggs with him. He has someone watching his Beardies but they wouldn't do the eggs. Hatching eggs and baby dragons are very new to us. We have only ever had adults so we are very new to this.

There's 17 eggs in total. They are supposed to hatch around the 9th of April. They do look like there is movement in them. We've seen movement in almost every egg. The incubator is at 81-85 degrees.

I have 3 tanks with lights for the poopers when they hatch. Should I have more for all of them? I was thinking 5-6 in each tank. Is this going to be too crowded for them? The three tanks are a 30 gallon, a 36 gallon and a 40 gallon. I also have a 20 gallon (old cricket tank that was put away due to acquiring dubia) but don't have enough light fixtures for a 4th tank. I have 2 extra MegaRay bulbs and an extra basking bulb with a ReptiGlo tube bulb for the 3 larger tanks.

I plan on feeding them baby dubia roaches. May get some crickets as well even though I can't stand the noise but the little crickets don't chirp so we may get some. Should I also offer greens?

I also read that they are supposed to stay in the incubator for 24 hours after hatching. Is this correct? This is also something I'm not too sure about because the humidity is 80% and I didn't think the humidity was good for Beardies.

Any advice and/or information would be greatly appreciated.

you dont have to leave them 24 hours.
your temps are good.
1/4 inch crickets after 1 to 2 days in the tank.
5 to 6 in the tanks you have will be OK for about 2 to 3 weeks.
It isnt ideal but it will work
I offer greens from the moment I offer crickets. at the very least the crickets eat the greens.

you need the humidity for the eggs otherwise they will dry out and the babyies will die. pretty sure you should have the humidity between 80 to 85 % if im wrong someone chime in. also saw you have a repti glo tube that is not a good bulb it causes many issues you want a REPTI-SUN 10.0 you can get them from petmountain.com for pretty cheap. you just have to leave them in there long enough for them to abosorbe the rest of the yulk then you can put them in the tanks to bask and warm up. anymore questions just ask we're here to help

For your info, we cannot find any ReptiSun bulbs anywhere close (within 300 kilometers (not miles). Shipping to CANADA is very expensive from petmountain or anywhere in the USA to CANADA. The ReptiGlo is an 8.0 and have read by numerous members on here that it is the 10.0 that causes problems. I am aware of the conditions the ReptiGlo 10.0 can cause to bearded dragons. I do not need lectures about them as I don't like to use them to begin with, hence why all 3 of our current dragons are on MEGARAY bulbs. The ReptiGlo is only used as a spare when needed and hasn't been used for over a year.

Are you trying to say absorb the yolk? How long does that generally take?

If someone can answer my other questions as well that would be appreciated.

first of all there is no reason to be rude i was not lecturing you on the repti glo i did not know you were in canada. and as far as your other question if it was about the humidity i answered that too but you were to busy getting pissy with me to see that. my only concern was for the hatchlings sensitive eyes with the repti glo. and yes i meant abosorb the yolk, normally it takes a few hours (2-4). I was in no way trying to offend you just help.

Everyone is just trying to help since you are mostly oblivious to your current situation and are seeking help. We are offering it. If you're rude, no one will answer any of your questions.

I must be numb, I didnt get the rude part.
Dragons will absorb the yolk sac on its own. You really dont have to worry about it. If your temps are 83 to 84 degrees your dragon will absorb its yolk before hatching. The reptiglo 8.0 is fine dont sweat it. The 10.0 isnt as good as the rsun 10.0 but its had most of its issues corrected and will do in a pinch.

The reptiglo 8.0 is perfectly safe. Hats off to you aprilmayjune, it looks like you have done some research!

Thanks WolfMan and GoFast. The help is much appreciated.

As for being rude, no I don't believe I was either. I was stating that CANADA doesn't have the ReptiSun bulbs like they do in the USA and I know the dangers that the ReptiGlo 10.0's can cause. I prefer to use the MegaRay bulbs anyways because they do double duty and my 3 adults enjoy the UVB they put out and their colouring is amazing after switching almost a year ago. Which reminds me, almost time to replace those MegaRays. It seemed as if the other poster was more concerned about the bulb than anything else.

I have done tons and tons of research but there isn't much on the breeding aspect that I can find readily available. I hadn't planned on doing any breeding for a couple more years so I thought I had more time to do research. When I am ready to breed my own dragons I will be sure to be ready properly with enough room for the hatchlings and with proper lighting. These eggs were kinda just thrust upon us last minute and want to make sure I do things right. If we didn't take in the eggs they would have ended up dying and I didn't want to see that happen.

2-3 weeks after hatching works for us to keep them 5-6 in a tank. Our friend will be back in the country by then and he can take most of them back. We do get to keep 1 or 2 of the babies and will be starting to build a new enclosure for them on the weekend. I hope this building of an enclosure goes more smoothly than the triple we built last year. If it gets done fast enough than we'll more than likely have 2 more enclosures to to house the hatchlings in when they come out.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
