I started isolating superworms in September.... Finally we have tiny little worms growing in substrate. It has taken what seems like forever. Does anyone know how long they take to grow? They are in oatmeal / bran substrate. And slices of potatoes for moisture. Do I need anything else?

I'm in ontario Canada....and yes there is a heat pad set on med. under the bins. One bin has beetles and one has the babies.

You don't really need anything else. As long as you provide them with moisture, you should be good. Don't forget to change the substrate every 2-3 weeks or so. I use to have a superworm "farm" and they go through the substrate fast. If i don't replace it, my room starts to have this ammonia/pee mixture smell. It's not good for your health that's for sure...

Once your colony gets bigger, you will need to get a bigger container and put more food or they will start to eat each other.

After a while, once you have a lot of superworms in one container, you can stop using the heat pad because they produce their own heat.

You can also refer to this thread for guidance in case you already knew the things i said. His guide is pretty thorough.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
