Water sealant?

I have been thinking about finding and old dresser and converting it into several enclosures. My concern is protecting the wood from water and humidity. Does anyone know of a beardie friendly water sealant i was thinking about something like Thompsons Water Seal and maybe letting it set out for a week or so to completely dry and off gas. Has anyone tried this or should i just build a custom enclosure from scratch. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

It would be better to use Minwax Polycrylic water based sealer And you'll have to let air out a longer than a week With most sealers like that they put off fumes from the heat of the cage
