I'm seriously considering getting a baby bearded dragon and while I was doing some research I read that babies won't drink from a dish because the water is still. Solutions to this are putting water around it's mouth but to me it sounds like this would not give them a sufficient amount of water. Would it be a good idea to buy a small fountain so it will drink from it? Would it work? Thanks!

Hmm..I'm not too sure if that would work or not.
We usually just bathe our beardies a few times a week, and they usually drink from the bath water.
Although, I haven't gotten mine to drink from the bath water, and he also won't drink if I drip some on his nose.
So what I do is mist his greens before I give them to him, and it seems to work good enough.

...Lokey has no problem drinking some water on his own (haha). I do have to say that he usually gets the majority of the water from his bath and our fingertips for now, but we did catch him once catching a drink for himself...thought the picture would give you a chuckle.

Hi I am not sure if you know that you can train your dragon to drink water. I HAVE! All you have to do is make sure he or she is comfortable in his tank. Then start the training. Put it in the water dish and start stirring water, then once they see it moving they get the idea. So just a smooth back and forth. After you train them a few times, then you should learn. IF you are successful then awesome, if you are not then keep trying!

I've had Howie for about a month and have never seen him drink any water. I tried dripping it on his nose over and over, and then he usually gets annoyed so I stop, I've tried a water dish in his viv, I never saw him go near it, and I've tried stirring his bath water around and nope, nothing.
Any suggestions??
I feel like the poor guy is gonna get dehydrated.

I don't worry if Huego "drinks" water orally as i've heard many times here that they actually rehydrate through their vents. Huego has drank a couple of times, but that's when i got lacks and went a couple days past his normal bath sched. But other then that, when in the bath he could care less and it's moving and all around him.

I have 2 baby beardies and they have a water dish in their tank but I have never seen them use it but I'm leaving it their just incase. They have on occasion took a small about of water when bathing but what I usually do is just put water on my finger and drip it on their nose and they will usually lick it off. Sometimes though they don't seem too pleased so I stop. I also mist them aswell in the morning just incase. So just try those things and you should definately get a baby bearded dragon they are so amazing and sweet. Just be prepared for the amount of care they need, but you seem like you've done your research so good luck and definately put up picutres of your beardie when you get it.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
