Hello! I am also sorry for your loss, but I want to let you know I appreciate you sharing that information. My vet suggested that I use sand as a substrate and if I do I will make SURE I never place cage furnishings on top of the sand.

so sorry to hear about your baby. I think we all have learned one thing or another the hard way, even if some are to ashamed to admit it. Thank you for helping others learn and as said before don't beat yourself up. A safer alternative for future is repti-carpet ( about $15 - $20 for starter tank, 29 gal ), indoor/ outdoor carpet or astro-turf about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of repti carpet or tile. For enclosure ideas look through this forum. Good luck and again DON'T beat your self up. The only bad accidents are the ones you don't learn from.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
