voice recognition

Is me again with another question to ponder. This time, i wonder if the dragon can recognize different tones in the speech of it's owner.If the owner is pleased with the dragon and a soothing tone is directed to it , or, if the owner uses a different tone, such as, being stern with it, balling it out so to speak for being bad.
What about knowing the sound of it's name? Do you think it actually knows it? or, is it only responding to repetition of words directed at it?
I have too much time on my hands me thinks.

Yep- too much time. But this was discussed last summer, so you are not the only one. :lol:
Bogie recognises his name and food words and the most important word- OUTSIDE. He can distinguish between our voices too. He gets real happy when he hears my voice or Katherine's.
This Christmas he got really interested in my FIL's voice? he started glass dancing and everything. We put him on FIL's lap and he sat there for an hour with his head cocked listening and staring into his face. First time for that reaction. It was so cute. Keith's brother wouldn't touch Bogie. :dontknow:

I know for a fact my boyfriend's Razual recognizes his name. I can be talking about him from across the room and he will look over at me.

Also, I'm not sure if it is vocal or if it is visual, but he surely can tell the difference between Rich and I, haha. He's not too fond of me... at least in comparison with his doting owner. He flattens down and scowls at me, whereas he perks up happily when Rich comes near. :? (I think he is just jealous that I get more attention than him!)

I definately think that they can distinguish between voices and such. Dudlee definately knows her name! I can call her across the room and she will run across her enclosure to me. I can also tell her "its bedtime!" and she will jump off her basking platform and run onto her hammock for bed! She also knows when she's in 'trouble', such as when she runs through her salad making a huge mess! They are smart lil boogers!

Iam sure they do ,Keata follows me when i call her name and will listen as i talk to her. I had an Iguana he would pout when i would scold him untill i would tell him mama was not mad at him any more . So yes they understand. Pamela.

I agree that beardies can recognise different voices. Ruben is NOT a fan of my other half, and so when he comes home from work and comes into the room (you cannot see the door from Rube's tank) he immediately does the old beady eye at the corner of his viv until he has seen my partner and let him know that he doesnt like him messing with his woman.

Hi Frank,

I totally agree with the previous posters. Rex responds to my voice over anyone elses in the house. I'm sure it's due to me spending the most time with her. When she's in the shower and I walk up and say "Ready to get out" she cocks her head at me and gives me the stink eye. She know's the fun is fixin' to end..
