Edit: The photos aren't working. I opened them in a new window and the loaded. Let me know if that doesn't work for you. I'm using google drive.
I'm so excited. I'm going to be getting my first beardie on Jan 4th at the NY reptile expo. I went last time to find a breeder I like. They said I can email them about a week beforehand to get some pictures of them so I can have a couple to choose from. So excited! We want to get one that is about a year old since we aren't home enough to feed 3 times a day. My brother built the 4'x2'x18" enclosure this weekend. I just wanted to share his handiwork. I still have to sand, paint, and seal.
Before completely assembled:
All put together:
There is a glass shop that I will take it to for the doors.
I'm going to paint the outside and polyacrylic the whole thing. Then aquarium safe silicone the seams. The UVB will he mounted inside on the back with the basking and CHE on the top of the screen. the substrate will be tiles from the hardware store. That's what I had for my leopard gecko years ago. Lowe's trims them for free.
I'm a nerd for research and that's why I built the enclosure on my first go. I'll update when it's all done and waiting for the beardie.
Malazan's vivarium is pretty much done. All that is left is to trim the tiles that are too big.
T5 UVB, basking bulb, and CHE. I keep the CHE on low since I have high ceilings and it gets chilly in my apartment. The dial is a temporary hygrometer. I use a temp gun to check the temps. Both the CHE and basking bulb are on dimmers to regulate the temps. I'm so happy with how it came out. My brother is awesome for building it.
She's shedding but it's coming off her tiny toes so I'm happy.
(The tin foil is to deter the cats from jumping on top. I am ok with lizard TV but no touching.)
Started a few months ago with the build of the enclosure...
Had some delays due to my work and our fiberglass specialist's was not able to deliver the wall and bottom on time.
At the moment 90% is done.
Still awaiting a shipment of desert sand and special treaded sand.
Control box will be delivered next week (timers for lights and heat/humidity controllers)
Hiding places, toys and basking branches are ready for installation.
Some pictures of the progress...
